THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES AT HALL ROAD RANGERS.

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S UNBEATEN RUN IN THE NCEL PREMIER DIVISION WAS EXTENDED TO 7 YESTERDAY AS THE TEAM FOUGHT FOR 3 HARD EARNED POINTS AT HALL ROAD RANGERS DENE PARK GROUND.

'BORO' ACTUALLY CAME BACK FROM A 1-0 DEFECIT BEFORE EVENTUALLY BAGGING ALL THE 3 POINTS WHICH WERE ON OFFER.
A FANTASTIC TURNOUT OF 'BORO' FANS WERE PRESENT AT THE GAME, THE OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE OF 367 MUST HAVE INCLUDED AT LEAST 300 'BORO' FANS.
MARK GRIFFIN HAD THE FIRST REAL CHANCE FOR 'BORO' BUT HIS SHOT WENT WIDE OF THE TARGET, RANGERS RESPONDED WITH A COUPLE OF HALF CHANCES BUT IT WAS 'BORO' WHO ALMOST TOOK THE LEAD ON THE HALF HOUR AS A RICHARD MEDCALF HEADER HIT THE CROSSBAR.
SO, HALF TIME ARRIVED WITH NO GOALS, BUT IT DID NOT TAKE LONG FOR THE FIRST GOAL TO COME IN THE SECOND HALF, IT TOOK ABOUT 3 MINUTES, AND IT WAS RANGERS WHO SURPRISINGLY TOOK THE LEAD, FOLLOWING A DEBATABLE FREE KICK THE BALL WAS DEFLECTED INTO THE 'BORO' GOAL LEAVING 'KEEPER DAVE BRAMLEY WITH LITTLE CHANCE OF STOPPING.
'BORO' FOUGHT BACK AND THEY HAD THEIR CHANCES BUT IT LOOKED LIKE BEING ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHEN THE BALL JUST WOULD NOT GO INTO THEIR OPPONENTS GOAL.
HOWEVER, THIS CHANGED IN THE 78TH MINUTE OF THE GAME AS SUBSTITUTE JOEL HARTLEY VOLLEYED THE BALL HOME TO EVEN UP THE SCORES. GRAHAM BOTHAM SUPPLIED THE CROSS AND JOEL MADE NO MISTAKE IN FINDING HIS TARGET.

Joel Hartley, scorer of our first and equalising goal.

A DRAW NOW LOOKED THE LIKELY OUTCOME OF THIS GAME BUT BORO'S CONTINUED PRESSURE FINALLY PAID OFF DEEP INTO INJURY TIME AS RICHARD MEDCALF FOUND THE WINNING GOAL, FOLLOWING A MIS-HIT SHOT FROM LOGAN, RICHARD MEDCALF WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION AND SLOT THE BALL HOME TO GIVE 'BORO' THE 3 POINTS AND EXTEND THEIR TERRIFIC UNBEATEN RUN TO 7 GAMES.

Richard Medcalf who grabbed our winner in the 2nd minute of injury time.

THE TOP 2 TEAMS ALSO HAD VICTORIES YESTERDAY, SO THE TOP 3 POSITIONS IN THE LEAGUE TABLE STAY THE SAME, BRIDLINGTON TOWN HAD AN 8-1 HOME VICTORY OVER HAPLESS BRODSWORTH WELFARE, WELFARE HAVE NOW CONCEDED 47 GOALS IN THEIR 8 LEAGUE MATCHES PLAYED. 2nd PLACED ARMTHORPE WENT TO WINTERTON AND SECURED THEIR POINTS WITH A 3-1 VICTORY WHILE 4TH PLACED SELBY TOWN, WHO ARE PLACED BELOW BORO IN THE TABLE ALSO WON THEIR GAME, ALTHOUGH THEY HAD TO HOLD ON TO A 1-0 LEAD GAINED FROM A 2nd MINUTE PENALTY.
'BORO' COULD CLOSE THE GAP SLIGHTLY ON TUESDAY NIGHT AS THEY ARE HOME TO WINTERTON, A GAME WHICH SHOULD SEE US TAKE ALL 3 POINTS, THE SAME NIGHT BRIDLINGTON TOWN HAVE A MORE DIFFICULT GAME AWAY TO DINNINGTON AND 4TH PLACED SELBY WILL NOT RELISH A TRIP TO RAINWORTH MW.
