THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

6 LEAGUE WINS OUT OF 6 FOR THE "BORO".

Scarborough Athletic's amazing unbeaten run continued at Queensgate on Saturday as a Craig Hogg hat-trick helped the team to a crushing 5-2 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls 'Selby Town'

This was a terrific performance, just what the fans and the team needed after the upset of the Presidents Cup defeat at Long Eaton in mid-week.
Dave Bramley returned to the Boro goal in place of Arran Reid and following a lively start by the men in red it took just 4 minutes for them to take a 1-0 lead, Richard Medcalf was given the opportunity following a header from Scott Phillips and he made no mistake, even better news was to follow just 6 minutes later as 'Boro' extended their lead, this time Craig Hogg the scorer, it was one way traffic and a whitewash looked to be on the cards.
But completely against the run of play Selby Town managed to pull 1 goal back thanks to Steve Lyon and as Boro attempted to regain their 2 goal advantage it would be Selby who would be next on the scoresheet again, this time a poor back header from the usually reliable Graham Botham allowed Selby's Liam Radford to score the equalising goal for his side.
Selby should never have been back on level terms, but it only took 2 minutes of play before Boro deservedly regained their lead.
A mistake by the Selby 'keeper following his block from Richard Medcalf shot allowed Craig Hogg to follow up and score Boro's 3rd goal, and as much as the team pressed for more goals they had to be content with the 3-2 scoreline as the half time whistle blew.
The 2nd half got under way just as the 1st half had finished with Boro the better team, they had missed some excellent chances to add to their lead before Craig Hogg added to his brace and completed his hat trick in the 65th minute after a glorious header following a Joe Conner free kick.
Town hit a Boro post and were unlucky with the goal line clearance which followed but in fairness it was very much one way and Boro eventually scored their 5th goal with just 10 minutes of the game remaining, a Richard Medcalf shot left the Town 'keeper helpless and the 5-2 scoreline was a fair reflection of how the game had been. Boro pressed to the end but as the final whistle blew they had to be content with the 5-2 score, an excellent all round team performance.
The top of the table now sees Bridlington Town on top, Armthorpe are 2nd and Boro 3rd, all are on 18 points.
I would like to mention the "man in the middle",There are some pretty hopeless officials in this league but I thought todays referee Mr C Duval had an excellent game, and if I were to score him marks out of ten, I would give him 8 following this game.
