THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE TONIGHT AS BORO TROUNCE WINTERTON 5-2.

Why does it always seem to rain on a Tuesday night when we are at Queensgate ? Well tonight's performance was not affected at all by the conditions as both teams played end to end football for the whole 90 minutes.
The first 15 minutes were pretty even, although it was Boro who had the most chances, yet in the 15 th minute Rangers scrambled the opening goal to take a surprising lead, Dave Bramley had made an excellent close range save but was beaten by the follow up to his save, but Boro kept their heads and were level just 2 minutes later as Craig Hogg got the equaliser following a cross from Joel Hartley.
It was a fast and furious game, packed with excitment and incident, even one of the linesmen had to dash to the changing room get a new flag as he damaged his own, although the corner which he was waving for at the time of his flag coming apart never was a corner so if he had not given it his flag would have stayed intact.
Richard Medcalf put Boro into the lead, Hoggs neat flick on left Medcalf with a great opportunity and he took his goal well.
Again though, the game was levelled as Rangers scored their second goal following a corner in the 42nd minute, a brilliant first half but it was not over yet, Joel Hartley who had played a fantastic 45 minutes already decided to waltz around 3 or 4 defenders and hit a terrific shot straight into the middle of the goal, it seemed that almost everyone in the ground stood up to applaud this goal.
The referee blew for half time about 10 seconds after Rangers kicked off after Joel's goal.
I did not expect the pace of the game to remain the same for the second period, but stay the same it did.
Craig Hogg found the back of the net again, heading home from a corner kick to extend the Boro's lead to 4-2.
Rangers did not give up trying for more goals themselves but Danny Moore and Paddy Miller in particular were giving nothing away in defence and when Rangers did find a half chance then Dave Bramley in the Boro goal was always alert to any danger.
Mark Griffin entered the field as a sub and he continued where Joel had left off, he took on the Rangers defenders for fun and Craig Hogg actually reached his hat trick following a free kick which was awarded to Boro following a foul on Mark Griffin.
Mark had only been on the field a couple of minutes or so when he was fouled while running towards the Rangers goal and Hogg scored another excellent goal from the resulting free kick.
Boro looked the stronger in the finishing stages just as throughout the whole match really, Rangers looked a good team but they were up against a much better team tonight.
So the unbeaten league run is now 8 wins out of the last 8 games, and with Bridlington Town having a difficult game tonight at Dinnington, if they slip up and we get a hat full of goals against Brodsworth on Saturday then I can realistically see us sitting on top of the league for the first time this season.
