THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

FINAL DAY OF SEASON LOOMS.

NCEL DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY

Division 1 champions Scarborough Athletic travel to Appleby Frodingham for their final league game of their season tommorow.
A large turnout of Boro fans along with mascot 'Steven' will be guaranteed as per normal and the supporters club are also laying on free transport for fans wishing to travel to North Lincolnshire.
THERE'S NO STOPPING 'GRIFF'

Basement club Glasshoughton Welfare will have already played their final game along with opponents Leeds Carnegie when all the other Saturday fixtures kick off, their game kicks off tonight at 7.45, Welfare are 23 points adrift at the bottom of the table below Yorkshire Amateur who in turn travel to Askern Villa tommorow, Villa were doing really well and had looked genuine promotion candidates until the last few weeks of the season, when they just lost their way and have had a string of dissapointing results, their last 5 games have seen them lose 3 and draw 2.
Barton Town entertain Pontefract Collieries and should take all 3 points on offer.
Brighouse Town in 15th position are at home to Stavely MW, Welfare should be capable of taking the points in this encounter
Grimsby Borough have what looks a fairly dull encounter with Barnsley side Worsbrough Bridge, I wonder if they will attract another fantastic crowd, their recent 4-2 defeat at home to Pontefract Collieries attracted just 21, a word of warning to any Bridge fans going to the game, do not shout too loudly for your team or the Borough fans will write to the Non League Paper and complain, they consider it aggressive behaviour, they did that after we played there and the paper decided to print their unfounded allegations without researching the claims of one idiot Grimsby Borough fan.
I think Hemsworth v Bottesford Town could be a really entertaining and even game, Hemsworth are mid-table but are a good side and Bottesford are just 3 places above them in 7th position.I would guess a narrow win for Hemsworth.
Promoted side Rainworth MW are at home to Teversal and the special occasion will not help 'Tevvie' any, there should be a few goals in this game.
Finally Tadcaster Albion host Rossington Main, 'Taddy' are unpredictable, they have gained some excellent points off better sides yet struggled against some of the lower sides, their recent results include an excellent 3-2 away win at Barton Town but this was followed up with a 4-1 home defeat by Bottesford Town, I would like to see 'Taddy' win this game comfortably.

I wonder how the man in the middle will perform tommorow................
