THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

PRESENTATION OF CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY AT FINAL HOME LEAGUE GAME

2.15 pm and a full car park.

Scarborough Athletic played out their final home league game of the season against a decent looking Leeds Carnegie side.

The Carnegie players sportingly applaud 'Boro' onto the field.

Carnegie's Scott Mcgrory had a frustrating day at the hands of the Boro defence.

It seemed obvious to me that Carnegie were here just to earn a point and they did just that, the 1st half was fairly even with Carnegie possibly having more possession and attacking opportunities than Boro.

Ryan Blott came close on 3 occasions
But it was Boro who came the closest to scoring when Ryan Blott fired just wide with about 5 minutes of the 1st half remaining.

Danny Gray also had his chances.

Both defences were on top, the Boro defence were kept busy but they remained solid.

Aaron Reid gathers safely while his defenders look on.

Half time penalty competition for reserve players.

The 2nd half kicked off without Jamie Waltham, so I had a few concerns as for me he is the one player who keeps everything tight at the back, but Boro actually played much better in the 2nd half, but the Carnegie defence held together and thanks to 3 or 4 excellent saves from Jacob Giles in the Carnegie goal they managed to keep Boro at bay and last the full 90 minutes without conceding.

Ryan Blott again comes close.

Not a great game but minds must have been on the presentation which was to follow the game, but I'm sure every Boro fan in the ground was happy with how the day went in spite of the result.

Skipper Graham Botham holds up the championship trophy.

Then everyone wants a hold.

The attendance today was a magnificent 791, easily the biggest gate of the season, and I'm sure that will be the highest Division 1 attendance for a long time to come.

All join in.

A word from the Chairman.

And from the manager.

The fans show their appreciation.

We have remained unbeaten at home all season during the league campaign, drawing just 4 games and winning the other 14.
