THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

TERRIFIC 3-0 VICTORY ON THE ROAD.

Boro were on the front foot immediately with Frank Belt prominent on the right of midfield, and a foul on him led to Boro’s first chance, but Mike Price’s low free kick was straight at Jamie Green.
This report is from the official site, as I was not present at Saturdays game I copied the report following our excellent victory at Armthorpe, we face a tougher challenge on Tuesday evening when we visit 2nd placed Parkgate, I will be travelling on the supporters coach to the game, it should be a great game with Boro getting back to winning ways, confidence should be high and there should be a reasonable number of travelling Seadogs helping to create a good atmosphere inside the ground.
Boro finally got the opening goal that their play deserved after twenty-one minutes, Dave Kemp went on a run from full back and played in Belt, whose cross was cleared back to Kemp who volleyed home at the second attempt, despite the effort of Green to save.
The next chance fell to Blott ten minutes before half time, when he charged down a clearance from Tom Dorgan, leaving him a clear run on goal, unfortunately his shot was just the wrong side of the post with Green beaten.
Just before the break Armthorpe had their first real opportunity but Richard Dunning made a timely deflection from a James Walker free kick.
Boro’s first chance of the second half fell to Northen, but he fired straight at Green when well placed, back came the home side and Woodhead had to make his first save just after the hour mark, smartly gathering a header from Craig Morley.
Two minutes later Boro almost extended their lead, Price picked up a loose ball just outside the area, rode three tackles, before firing just the wrong side of the post from a tight angle.
Boro showed no signs of putting in a poor second half performance today, and finally made the game safe after 70 minutes, when tenacious play by the ever-running Northen caused Aaron Jones to needlessly give away a corner.
From Dunning’s cross the Armthorpe defence allowed Northen too much space and he sent a bullet header ripping into the net for his ninth goal of the season.
Armthorpe were now a spent force, and even centre half Mike Gibson was getting in on the act, when he went on a tremendous run down the left wing before releasing Blott, who rounded Green, but just couldn’t find Dunning with his pull back.
Then Dunning again was unlucky with a header from a Kemp cross.
Two minutes from time, Boro made their first change, bringing on Bill Law for the excellent Blott, and within a minute he set up the third goal to put the gloss on a tremendous performance.
A ball from the back found Law in the channel, he out muscled Dorgan, before pulling the ball back to Dunning, who controlled and fired home his first Boro goal.
Boro almost made it four, when Hotte ran right through the Armthorpe midfield before playing in Law, whose cross was charged down.
Soon after the official brought an end to proceedings, which was met by a moment of unity by players, manager, coach etc, as they gathered in a huddle.
A great win for Boro as they attempt to get their season back on track, with the midfield of Dunning, Hotte, and Brenton Leister to the fore, but a special mention must go to MOTM Dave Kemp, who was awesome with his tenacious tackling, and his forays in attack.
