THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

'COME ON YOU RED'S' SEASON 2010-11. CATCH-UP TIME.

As I now appear to have the time required to keep this blog informative, interesting and up to date once again,  I have decided to continue where I left off with my last post some 4 months ago
In spite of me not publishing the blog this season, I have still attended most matches and there is much to write about.
Hopefully my match reports on this blog  will be much more accurate than the ramblings reported in the local paper, after attending a game and then reading about it in the paper the next day or so, it is hardly ever a true reflection of the actual game and player ratings etc are usually a a joke.
Lot's of things have happened at the club since my last post, some good and some not so good, which I will talk about at a later date.
I want to start now by bringing you up to date with the new season so far, it has not been the best of starts for Scarborough Athletic, in my opinion the team is nowhere near as strong as last seasons, actually it is more than my opinion, it is fact.Certain players seem to have their places guaranteed week in week out irrespective of their lack lustre performances, too many good players have left the club and some of their replacements have just not been good enough to wear the shirt.
But again, I will give my thoughts on these matters once I have gone briefly through each game that has been played by the club since the season kicked off back in August.
Following an unbeaten pre-season which saw us bang in 9 goals against local side 'Eastfield'  followed with  a 5-1 thrashing of Barton Town, we then had a credible 2-2 draw with Goole Town, a 1-0 victory over Ossett Albion and finally a 1-1 draw against a very good Harrogate side. So the overall mood of the supporters looking at the season ahead was quite optimistic and as August 7th neared I was looking forward to an emphatic victory over opponents Lincoln Moorlands Railway at Queensgate.
The expected victory did not materialise, we had to settle for a 2-2 draw and a share of the points.
3 days later we had a Presidents cup tie to look forward to away at Arnold Town, we had finished last seasons league campaign with a home game against Arnold and we ran out 5-1 winners on that occasion, this game also ended in victory for 'Boro', but this was a scrappy encounter and it took a late headed goal by ex Bridlington Town striker Craig Palmer  to secure a 2-1 victory for Boro and passage into the quarter final stage of the competition. The Boro defence was strengthened on the night with the addition of well travelled and ex Scarborough FC player Denny Ingram who made his debut. I have mixed feelings about us playing someone like Denny, the club say they did not give in to any excessive wage demands from the player, but quality players of a higher ability on substantially more pay than their team mates does not lead to harmony in the changing room.
Well, I forgot how time consuming it can be sitting here typing away, it is time to take the dog for a walk, I will continue  next with our opening FA Cup fixture which was up in the North east  at Northern league side  Ryton.
UP THE BORO........................  .
