THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

SATURDAY ROUND UP FROM NCEL WEBSITE

NCEL PREMIER DIVISION.
Bridlington Town beat second-placed visitors Rainworth Miners Welfare by a single goal scored by Craig Hogg on 31 minutes. Welfare have now gone 6 games without a victory.
Indeed, Rudy Funk's men have now been dislodged from runners-up spot by Armthorpe Welfare who were 3-0 winners at home to Hallam.
All three goals came in the opening period as Bruno Holden struck twice, sandwiching a Liam Hardy 21st minute conversion.
Thackley continued their unbelievable form with a 6-1 home pummelling of bottom two side Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Nicky Matthews scored twice whilst there were also goals for Rob Morgan, Matthew Mathers, Luke Hudson and Dean Walters.
It means the Dennyfield side, who are now ten points clear in fourth, have netted 31 times in their last six matches.
Scarborough Athletic remain in fifth spot despite a 2-1 defeat at Pickering Town.
A Tom Adams penalty had the Pikes ahead just before the interval and Liam Salt doubled the home side's advantage on 68.
Ryan Blott threatened a comeback with a 77th minute goal for the Seadogs but to no avail.
At the other end of the table, Shirebrook Town eased their relegation worries with a well-timed 2-1 home win over Maltby Main.
They had gone behind through a ninth-minute Simon Hickey opener but showed great spirit to level quickly through Jay Whalley and then win the game with seven minutes remaining thanks to a Ben Griffiths strike.
Shirebrook go up to seventeenth in the table, jumping over Nostell Miners Welfare who were 5-3 losers at Arnold Town.
Nostell's afternoon at Eagle Valley started in the worst possible way as goals from Tommy Hannigan and Tony Law had Arnold two-up within the opening ten minutes.
Tom Thornton pulled one back midway through the second period but Chris Freestone restored the Eagles' two-goal advantage just after the half-hour mark.
But, Nostell once again showed spirit with a Graham Marchant injury time strike to reduce their deficit to one by the break.
Freestone made it 4-2 before Marchant brought Nostell back into it again on 67 minutes.
But, Arnold were not to be denied and Martin Carruthers made sure of the victory as the game drew towards a close.
The home side stay ninth in the table whilst Nostell drop to eighteenth, seven points clear of Lincoln Moorlands.

Dinnington Town were 3-1 winners in their mid-table home clash with Hall Road Rangers.
Peter Smith, Charlie Weir and Liam Cartledge had secured the points for them by the 65th minute before a consolation from Martin Thacker for the visitors.
And, there were away wins for Long Eaton United and Winterton Rangers.
A fifth-minute own goal from Simon Megson saw Long Eaton win 1-0 at Parkgate.
And, Liam Wilkin's goal was added to by a Danny Frost penalty as Winterton won 2-0 at Selby Town.

NCEL DIVISION 1. Division One leaders Brighouse Town stretched their winning run to nine games to keep themselves four points clear at the top of the table.
A Danny Toronczak brace in the opening eight minutes set them on their way to a 6-2 victory at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Daniel Davidson, Matthew Howgate and Darryl Leach also netted in the opening half for Brighouse whilst Andy Smith scored for the home side.
In the second period, Smith's penalty on the hour made it 2-5 before Matthew Sparkes completed the scoring with four minutes remaining.
Second placed Leeds Carnegie won 2-0 at Rossington Main with a double from Marcel Okoro to keep them in touch with Brighouse with two games in hand.
Staveley Miners Welfare climb up to third after Jamie Smith's 48th minute strike earned them a 1-0 win at home to Glasshoughton Welfare.
They go above Tadcaster Albion who drew 2-2 at Barton Town Old Boys on Friday night.
Jason Moody and Gareth Barlow made it the perfect start for the hosts in the opening six minutes.
But, Andy Sunley and Graeme Whitehead made sure the points were shared in the second half.
Fifth-placed AFC Emley's poor run of form continued with a 2-1 loss at home to the side just below them, Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Andy Haywood and Paul Banton had the visitors clear by the interval whilst Steven Kenworth pulled one back for Emley on 68 minutes.
Askern Villa drew 1-1 at home to Grimsby Borough to move up into eight place.
And, there were away wins for Bottesford Town at bottom side Eccleshill United and Teversal at Pontefract Collieries.
