THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

'BORO' TOO GOOD FOR HALLAM.

398 fans were present at Queensgate last night knowing that victory over Hallam could leave 'Boro' sharing top spot in the league with both Bridlington Town and Armthorpe Welfare, I say "could be sharing top", because Brid' Town were also playing last night and victory for them at Liversedge would see them stay 3 points in front of 'Boro' even if we triumphed over Hallam.
So, onto Queensgate and it only took Boro 2 minutes to find the back of the Hallam net, as Scott Phillips scored the opening goal.
It was all Boro and it seemed already that it was just a matter of how many goals they would win by.
On 25 minutes to add to their woe, Hallam were reduced to 10 men as defender Gary Hibbert was shown a red card for a 'professional foul'.
In spite of their dominance and the fact that Hallam were a man short it took Boro until almost half time before they scored their 2nd goal, and it was down to Scott Phillips again, after Richard Medcalf was fouled by the Hallam 'keeper it was Scott who stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home for both his and his teams 2nd goal.
Hallam tried to make a game of it as the 2nd half got under way, but realistically there was only one team who were going to take the 3 points on offer, but even so, it took Boro until the 88th minute to find their 3rd goal, Craig Hogg was set up by Danny Gray and he made no mistake.
So, another excellent victory and the thoughts of those early defeats are just a distant memory in the minds of the Boro faithful, the new players have fit into the team and I cannot wait for the trip to Long Eaton on Saturday for our next game.
Looking back at last nights results Bridlington Town did get their victory at Liversedge, so they remain top on 15 points, Armthorpe are still 2nd and they play tonight at Lincoln Moorlands, so victory for them would put them on level terms with Brid'. Last night at Liversedge, the home side actually went ahead after just 2 minutes and the score stayed 1-0 until half time, but Bridlington Town ran riot in the 2nd half scoring 5 goals, so that really was 'a game of 2 halves'. Also last night it was good to see ex Boro players Dave Thompson and Gary Hepples on the scoresheet for their new club 'Pickering Town'.
