SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

RYAN BLOTT SCORES 5 GOALS IN 6-1 THRILLER.
As I was not there yesterday I have copied the match report from the local papers website, it is not a very informative report, and in no way does it give the team the credit which it deserves after such a victory but it will give you some idea of how the match went.
Here is the report;
"THE Ryan Blott show came to Bracken Edge as Scarborough Athletic banished any memory of their Wilkinson Sword Trophy exit on the same ground last month.
Boro’s 6-1 win made it impossible to believe they had slipped to a 2-0 defeat here just a few weeks earlier.It was Blott's striking quality that made the difference - he netted five goals in a display that had the Amateur defence quaking each time he picked up the ball.It took Boro a little time for the cogs to click into place, with the first half a much tighter affair.Boro took 16 minutes to grab the initiative. Blott burst onto a Dave Kemp through ball, danced around the keeper and rolled home his first.But things didn't look so bright on 25 minutes when Kemp used Paddy Miller as a climbing frame, and the referee pointed at the spot. Miller then ended keeper Arran Reid's run of 205 minutes without conceding when he rolled home the penalty.Six minutes later Boro were back in front in what was the turning point of the game. A scramble in the box ended with Dave Thompson's strike being pushed away by the hand of midfielder Simon Kirsima. Kirsima was given his marching orders and Scott Phillips stroked the ball home from the penalty spot.Blott's finishing masterclass started just after the break when Thompson raced down the left and the striker headed home his side's third.Within seven minutes the hat-trick was completed, with Thompson's again providing the ammunition and Blott sliding in to net at the far post.Keeper Reid then saved brilliantly with his feet from a Adam Ryder strike.But the limelight was still focused on Blott, and he showed why with 10 minutes left with another neat finish from Graham Botham's through ball.After hooking wide another effort, Blott wrapped up his and Boro's tally in the final seconds.When Mark Griffin was brought down out wide, Blott stepped up and curled in a delightful free-kick which, instead of picking out Jamie Waltham's head, sailed into the top corner".
So another brilliant performance from Scarborough Athletic, we now have 3 successive matches in various cup competitions but do not play in the league again until Saturday 29th November when we travel to fellow promotion contenders Emley, naturally we cannot be expected to maintain pole position while the other teams continue to pick up points while we are involved in other competitions during the next couple of weeks.
We have already beaten Emley 4-0 at home in the league in front of 450 fans back in August, but by the time we play them on the 29th Nov' they will themselves have played 3 other league games, so they could by then be in the top spot above us, I would expect them to collect 6 points from their next 2 games which are Tadcaster away and Yorkshire Amateurs at home, they then play away to Pontefract Collieries where I think they will be beaten on the day, so by the time we play them they could be 2 points above us on 38 points but we would be going into that game having played two games less than Emley, so by the end of 90 minutes the top of the table could read Boro top with 39 points from 16 games and Emley 2nd with 38 points from 18 games. so we will still have 2 games in hand over them and once we are back into league action and have retaken the top spot,then I think we could remain there for the majority of the season.
Our next game is on Tuesday night at Doncaster based 'Askern Villa' who we play in the League Cup, then on Sunday it will be our biggest game of the season so far as we entertain 'Sunderland Nissan' in the FA Vase, I expect the crowd that day to set a new record for Scarborough Athletic.
The final of course will be played at Wembley Stadium.
Following the Vase match, 3 day's later we travel north to play Stokesly in the North Riding Senior Cup and then on Saturday 29th we should take a large following across to Emley in what should be a keenly contested game as we settle back into league action.
THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE NOW;
Scarborough Athletic played 15 36 points.
Emley played 14 32 points.
Pontefract Collieries played 15 32 points.
