SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

A BRIEF MID-WEEK REVIEW OF NCEL PREMIER AND DIVISION ONE GAMES.
THEY DEFEATED MALTBY MAIN 2-1 ON TUESDAY NIGHT AND NOW HEAD THE TABLE ON 27 POINTS FROM THEIR 10 GAMES PLAYED.
THEIR ATTENDANCES HOWEVER ARE NOT SO IMPRESSIVE, THEIR FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON ATTRACTED JUST 75 FANS, NEXT WAS A 'VASE' GAME AGAINST BIDDULPH WHICH ATTRACTED ONLY 71.
THE DINNINGTON HOME LEAGUE MATCH, WHICH PROVED THEIR ONLY HOME DEFEAT TO DATE BROUGHT IN A BETTER ATTENDANCE, 107, AND FINALLY TUESDAY'S MATCH AGAINST MALTBY MAIN ONLY ATTRACTED 94 PAYING FANS.
ARNOLD TOWN AND PICKERING TOWN ARE 2nd AND 3rd RESPECTIVELY, BUT I THINK WINTERTON BACK IN 7th PLACE WILL TURN OUT TO BE 'SPORTS' MAIN RIVALS AS THE SEASON PROGRESSES, THEY HAVE 3 GAMES IN HAND AT THE MOMENT.
WINTERTON DO HAVE 6 SUCCESSIVE AWAY LEAGUE TRIPS TO FACE NEXT, BUT THE END OF SEASON RUN-IN COULD PROVE SIGNIFICANT FOR THE CLUB AS THEY WILL PLAY 6 OF THEIR LAST 8 MATCHES AT HOME.
THE ONLY OTHER PREMIER FIXTURE MIDWEEK WAS SELBY v ARMTHORPE WELFARE WHICH TOWN WON 2-1.
SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC HAD THAT MAGNIFICENT 7-0 VICTORY OVER TADCASTER ALBION IN FRONT OF 442 FANS ON A WET AND WILD NIGHT AT QUEENSGATE AND WE NOW HAVE ANOTHER HOME GAME TO LOOK FORWARD TO ON SATURDAY WHEN STAVELY MW ARE THE VISITORS.
OUR MAIN RIVALS IN DIVISION ONE 'BARTON TOWN OLD BOYS' SCRAPED A 3-2 VICTORY OVER LEEDS CARNEGIE, GARETH BARLOW GRABBING THE WINNER IN THE 88th MINUTE, I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR BACK TO BACK GAMES WITH BARTON IN DECEMBER.
THE OTHER GAME IN DIVISION ONE SAW BOTTESFORD TOWN RETURN TO FORM AND ACHIEVE A 2-0 VICTORY AT TEVERSAL.
IN THE 'WILKINSON SWORD TROPHY, BRIGHOUSE TOWN BECAME THE FIRST TEAM TO GET INTO THE LAST 8 OF THE COMPETITION FOLLOWING A CONVINCING 5-0 VICTORY OVER GRIMSBY BOROUGH.
