THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

THE FINAL GAME OF OUR SUCCESSFUL FIRST SEASON AS A CLUB

Tommorow, Saturday April 26th sees Scarborough Athletic kick off in the Northern Counties East League Division One for the final time this season.
They have the luxury of a home fixture, the visitors to Queensgate will be Stavely MW and "Boro" will be out to extend their remarkable 11 match unbeaten run in the league to 12.
We will be missing top scorer 'Scott Phillips' who is out due to a suspension, flying winger 'Ryan Morton' is also absent with a foot injury and the dependable Carl Wood will be missing from the defence due to a groin strain, all these 3 players will be missed badly, but on a positive note defenders Kev Milner and Dave Kemp return to the squad and forward Richard Medcalfe also looks likely to return.
Stavely do have their own problems as the Management team of Nigel Ransom and Don Morton are to quit the club after Saturdays encounter with the "Boro". they are sure to want to go out with a win in their final game in charge, so the players may just be trying that bit harder for their two departing bosses.
We did win the away fixture at Stavely back in December by 3 goals to nil, Ryan Blott was superb that day scoring 2 goals, his first coming after only 2 minutes, the other scorer was Anthony Bowsley.
Boro should start the game with confidence, especially as they are on such a run of unbeaten games and playing some really attractive football along the way.
A bumper crowd should be in attendance as it is the final game and should create a good atmosphere,
Manager 'Brian France ' said in the local paper, "It's been a good season for us and we are looking to finish things off with another win".
A repeat of the 3-0 away victory is my prediction.
It would be nice if we could have a referee who actually knows what he is doing out on the pitch, I have seen only one performance from an official all season which could be described as 'good'.

UP THE BORO...................................
