THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO 8 BORROWASH 0. "RYAN BLOTT" HAT TRICK.

Daughter Dayle starts the day right in the currie & chip buttie queue.

A FREEZING COLD DAY WITH STRONG WINDS DID NOT DETER SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC FROM BREAKING THE HIGHEST SCORE RECORD SO FAR THIS SEASON IN THE NCEL DIVISION ONE
OPPONENTS BORROWASH WERE COMPLETELY OUTPLAYED BY A CONFIDENT LOOKING SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC ELEVEN WHO WERE EVENTUAL 8-0 WINNERS.
Currie, chips and now hot chocolate.

'BORO' KICKED OFF PLAYING AGAINST THE WIND, BUT EVEN SO IT TOOK THEM ONLY 9 MINUTES TO OPEN THE SCORING, IT WAS LEADING SCORER SCOTT PHILLIPS WHO GOT THE ALL IMPORTANT FIRST GOAL, THE CONDITIONS WERE TERRIBLE FOR TRYING TO PLAY GOOD FOOTBALL BUT 'BORO' TRIED TO PLAY THEIR USUAL FLUENT PASSING GAME AND THEY DID PROVIDE GOOD ENTERTAINMENT IN SPITE OF THE CONDITIONS.

Scott Phillips leads another 'Boro' attack.

MARK GRIFFIN ADDED BORO'S SECOND GOAL IN THE 32nd MINUTE AND LIAM WIDDOWSON SCORED THE THIRD GOAL JUST 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE BREAK.
SO,HALF TIME ARRIVED WITH 'BORO' LEAVING THE FIELD WITH A CREDITABLE 3-0 LEAD, THEY TOTALLY DOMINATED THE FIRST HALF AND MUST HAVE FELT THAT THE GOALS WOULD FLOW IN THE SECOND HALF WITH THE STRONG WIND BEHIND THEM, ESPECIALLY WITH SO MANY PLAYERS ABLE TO USE THE CONDITIONS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE, SOMETHING THAT THE BORROWASH PLAYERS FAILED TO DO DURING THE FIRST 45 MINUTES.

A nice hot flask of Oxo makes a cold day a little warmer.

IT WAS NOT LONG AFTER THE 2nd HALF KICK OFF BEFORE THE 3-0 ADVANTAGE BECAME 4-0 AS 'BORO'S' GARY HEPPLES GOT HIS FIRST STRIKE OF THE GAME IN THE 65th MINUTE. CRAIG HOGG WHO HAD COME ON FROM THE SUBSTITUTES BENCH MADE IT 5-0 JUST 5 MINUTES LATER. RYAN BLOTT SCORED FROM THE PENALTY SPOT, AFTER HE HIMSELF HAD BEEN FOULED, IT WAS A NICE TOUCH WHEN BLOTT AND PHILLIPS SPOKE BEFORE THE PENALTY WAS TAKEN, AND USUAL SPOT KICKER PHILLIPS LET BLOTT TAKE THE KICK.
'BORO' WERE SUPERB, THEY LOOKED CAPABLE OF SCORING WITH ALMOST EVERY ATTACK, AND IT REALLY WAS NO SURPRISE THAT WHEN THE FINAL WHISTLE BLEW THE 'BORO' HAD SCORED 8 GOALS, RYAN BLOTT ADDED THE FINAL 2 GOALS OF THE GAME.

Mark Griffin who had an excellent game for the 'Boro'

THE ONLY SOUR NOTE TODAY WAS THE RED CARD WHICH PHILLIPS RECEIVED FOR A MISTIMED 2 FOOTED TACKLE ON A BORROWASH FORWARD, THERE WAS NO MALICE IN THE CHALLENGE, IT WAS PURELY MISTIMED BUT IT WAS A SENDING OFF OFFENCE AND THE REFEREE HAD NO CHOICE IN SENDING PHILLIPS OFF.( I THOUGHT THE REFEREE WAS EXCELLENT TODAY, HIS DECISIONS WERE GOOD, HE WAS NOT INTIMIDATED BY ANYONE AND HIS COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE PLAYERS WAS FIRST CLASS-AND I LOOK FORWARD TO Mr R TARBATT OFFICIATING BORO GAMES IN THE FUTURE)

Jubilant Boro players and Officials leave the pitch.

NEXT WEEKS VISITORS 'TEVERSAL' WILL NOT RELISH THEIR TRIP TO QUEENSGATE, AS NONE OF THE OTHER TEAMS WILL EITHER, BORO ON THEIR DAY ARE MAGNIFICENT AND CAPABLE OF BEATING ANYONE.

And jubilent Boro fans head for home. "Up the Boro"
