THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BRAVE "BORO" BEATEN BUT NOT DISGRACED.

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC WERE BEATEN 2-0 BY AN IMPRESSIVE YORK CITY ELEVEN IN THIS NORTH RIDING SENIOR CUP SEMI FINAL ENCOUNTER AT QUEENSGATE.
A CROWD OF 505 SAW THIS MATCH, THEY SAW BORO PLAY THE BEST FOOTBALL IN THE FIRST HALF, AND ONCE AGAIN IN A GAME THEY LEFT THE FIELD AFTER 45 MINUTES ON LEVEL TERMS WHEN THEY COULD SO EASILY HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF GOALS TO THE GOOD.
RYAN BLOTT HAD A COUPLE OF NEAR MISSES, BUT AS THE SECOND HALF PROGRESSED IT WAS CITY WHO WERE LOOKING THE MORE LIKELY TO SCORE.
IN THE SIXTY THIRD MINUTE CITY'S SAM DUNCUM WAS FOULED IN THE BORO PENALTY AREA AND MARK ROBINSON PUT CITY 1-0 UP FROM THE RESULTING PENALTY.
DAVE THOMPSON , WHO WAS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT ALL NIGHT, CAME CLOSE FOR BORO BUT IN THE LAST FEW MINUTES OF THE GAME IT WAS CITY WHO SNATCHED THEIR SECOND GOAL SCORED BY ADAM BOYES.
SO DREAMS OF A CUP FINAL APPEARENCE IN THIS, THEIR FIRST SEASON OF EXISTENCE FOR SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC WERE CRUELY SHATTERED AS CITY WERE 2-0 VICTORS AT THE FINAL WHISTLE. BUT THE TEAM PLAYED EXCELLENT ON THE NIGHT AND EVERY BORO PLAYER CAN HOLD HIS HEAD UP HIGH.
BORO BOSS 'BRIAN FRANCE' PRAISED HIS TEAM, HE STATED "I CAN'T COMPLAIN TOO MUCH BECAUSE THE LADS GAVE THEIR ALL, EACH PLAYER DESERVES CREDIT".
FRANCE SINGLED OUT DAVE THOMPSON BY SAYING "HE WAS AWESOME ON THE NIGHT"
BAD NEWS AFTER THE GAME WAS THAT RYAN BLOTT WILL BE OUT FOR AROUND 10 DAYS WITH A GROIN INJURY.
WE ALSO RECEIVED GREAT PRAISE FROM FORMER SCARBOROUGH FC MANAGER NEIL REDFEARN WHO IS PRESENTLY YORK CITY'S YOUTH TEAM MANAGER- THESE WERE HIS WORDS-"THAT IS NOT A NORTHERN COUNTIES TEAM. I'VE SEEN NORTHERN COUNTIES TEAMS AND LOOKING AT THAT DISPLAY BORO SHOULD BE A LOT HIGHER IN THE PYRAMID. WE PUT OUT SOME EXPERIENCED PLAYERS AND ALSO SOME OF THE YOUNGER LADS WE THINK A LOT OF. BORO HELD US FOR A LONG TIME AND THEY COULD HAVE POSSIBLY GONE AHEAD ON A FEW OCCASIONS. IT WAS A GREAT GAME AND IT WAS NICE TO CATCH UP WITH THE SCARBOROUGH FANS, EVEN THOUGH I CAME IN FOR A BIT OF STICK."
BORO DID PLAY WELL AND COULD HAVE WON THE GAME, BUT IT WILL BE BACK TO LEAGUE ACTION NEXT AND ALL EYES WILL BE ON THE BOTTESFORD GAME ON SATURDAY, WE STILL HAVE AN OUTSIDE CHANCE OF GAINING PROMOTION THIS SEASON, AND THREE POINTS ON SATURDAY SHOULD PUT THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE SEMI FINAL DEFEAT WELL BEHIND US.
UP THE BORO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
