LAST WEEK I FOUND MYSELF SENDING AN E-MAIL TO "THE NON LEAGUE PAPER" IN RESPONSE TO THEIR INCLUSION OF A GRIMSBY BOROUGH SUPPORTERS ACCUSATIONS OF "DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR" BY "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" FANS AT THEIR HOME MATCH BETWEEN THE CLUBS.
THIS LETTER SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PRINTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, IT WAS TOTALLY UNFOUNDED AND WOULD GIVE SUPPORTERS OF OTHER CLUBS THE WRONG IMPRESSION OF OUR GREAT CLUB, I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE PAPER"AS EXPECTED", BUT YESTERDAY AT THE YORKSHIRE AMATEUR GAME WHEN I MENTIONED THIS SUBJECT TO SOME OTHER FANS I WAS TOLD THAT THE CLUB ITSELF HAD CONTACTED THE PAPER REGARDING THE LETTER ALSO, SO MAYBE IN THIS WEEKS "NON LEAGUE" PAPER THERE COULD BE SOMETHING PRINTED IN OUR CLUBS DEFENCE OF THE ACCUSATIONS MADE BY "STUART ROBERTS OF GRIMSBY". I HAVE NOT BOUGHT MY COPY YET. AS I STATED IN MY LETTER TO THE PAPER WE AS A CLUB ARE WELCOMED ON OUR TRAVELS, WE DO NOT CAUSE ANY TROUBLE , I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED ANY REAL HOSTILITY OR GIVEN ANY DURING THE PAST COUPLE OF SEASONS FOLLOWING THIS GREAT CLUB.
ROSSINGTON MAIN HAVE AN ELEMENT OF FOLLOWERS INTENT ON CAUSING TROUBLE AND THEY DO THEIR BEST TO GET A REACTION FROM OUR YOUNGER FANS AT EVERY MEETING BETWEEN THE CLUBS-BOTH HOME AND AWAY BUT OUR FANS HAVE NOT GOT INVOLVED IN ANY TROUBLE WITH THEM OR INDEED ANY OTHER CLUBS FANS.
SO IF ANY NEUTRALS OUT THERE SAW Mr ROBERTS LETTER LAST WEEK AND HAVE FORMED AN OPINION OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC BASED ON HIS COMMENTS,PLEASE BE ASSURED IT WAS NONSENSE.
FOR ME, ONE OF THE MOST ENJOYABLE ASPECTS OF FOOTBALL AT THIS LOWER LEAGUE LEVEL IS THE MINGLING OF HOME AND AWAY SUPPORTERS, I REALLY ENJOY IT, I FOUND IT STRANGE AT FIRST AFTER YEARS OF SEGREGATION AND HOME AND AWAY ENTRANCES ETC, BUT IT IS A MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE IN MY OPINION. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE DISAGREEMENTS BETWEEN FANS AND OPINIONS WILL VARY IN FAVOUR OF YOUR TEAM, BUT "DISGUSTING- BEHAVIOUR" Mr ROBERTS ? NEVER FROM THE SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC TRAVELLING FANS.

SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
