THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO HAMMER "AMMERS" 6-0

It might look like a nice sunny day-but it was not.........

Scarborough Athletic Division 1 Champions 2008-09.

Pre match photo of the Champions.

Almost kick off time.

Another freezing cold day at Queensgate, but the cold plus gale force winds and the occassional sleety showers could not stop Scarborough Athletic's marvellous run of results.

Not many seats left today as the fans get under cover.

The first half today saw Scarborough Athletic playing against the strong wind and it was never going to be a classic game of football in these conditions, but even though the game remained scoreless up to the 40th minute, you could sense that it was only a matter of time until Boro found the first goal, they were the more creative, the only side really making chances and in the 41st minute they were awarded a penalty, they had already had another perfectly legitimate penalty appeal turned down moments earlier when Ryan Blott was stopped and wrestled to the ground by 3 'Ammers' defenders but strangely the referee saw nothing wrong with those challenges, maybe not so strange considering the standard of the officials in this league, but to be fair I thought todays officials were above the standard we have become used to.

Rob Hoyle penalty makes the score 1-0.

However, Rob Hoyle made no mistake in blasting his shot past Joe Gardner in the 'Amers' goal, it was not easy for Rob as the wind kept blowing the ball off the spot, but he eventually took the kick and we were 1 goal to the good with just 4 minutes of the half remaining.

'Boro' try to create.

The half time bovril and burger was especially welcome today in the freezing cold.

Jamie Waltham and Dave Kemp organise at the back.

The 2nd half was a completely different game, Boro now had the strong wind behind them and unlike 'Ammers' in the first half they would take full advantage of the conditions.

Aaron Reid in the 'Boro' goal tries to keep warm.

Ryan Blott scored his first of 2 goals today to double the Boro lead in the 54th minute.
Brian France had brought on Mark Griffin, Scott Phillips and Paul Routledge in place of 'local boys' Dave Thompson, Gary Hepples and our possible 'find of the season' Paul Routledge, and Phillips and Routledge scored goals 3 and 4 soon after coming on the field.
The game was totally dominated by 'Boro' and in the 80th minute Dave Kemp made the score 5-0 and with 6 minutes of the game remaining Ryan Blott scored his 2nd goal to make the final score 6-0.
A great 2nd half performance in really difficult conditions sent the crowd of 503 shivering fans home cold but happy and no doubt looking forward to the Presidets Cup semi final on Thursday.
2 of the clubs most loyal supporters who make regular trips from Oxfordshire to follow the 'Boro'.

UP THE BORO.............
