THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

2-1 VICTORY AT TEVERSAL GUARANTEES "BORO" PROMOTION

2 YEARS OF HARD GRAFT AND COMMITMENT , BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD OF PLAY BY A DEDICATED BUNCH OF INDIVIDUALS, PAID OFF YESTERDAY AS SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB GAINED THEIR FIRST PROMOTION IN JUST THEIR 2nd SEASON OF EXISTENCE.
IT WAS BY SHEER COINCIDENCE THAT THE CLUB THEY SHOULD BE PLAYING ON THIS MOMENTOUS DAY WAS THE SAME CLUB THEY HAD FACED IN THEIR VERY FIRST LEAGUE ENCOUNTER AS A NEWLY FORMED CLUB WAY BACK ON AUGUST 8th 2007. THE SAME RESULT (2-1) WAS ALSO THE OUTCOME BUT THIS TIME IT WAS IN THEIR FAVOUR, LAST TIME TEVERSAL WERE THE 2-1 VICTORS.
SO A LARGE, EXPECTANT FOLLOWING OF BORO FANS WERE PRESENT AT CARNARVON STREET TO HOPEFULLY SEE "BORO" GAIN THE 3 POINTS NEEDED TO CONFIRM THEIR PROMOTION.
THE GAME DID NOT START TOO WELL FOR THE BORO AS TEVERSAL TOOK THE LEAD AFTER ONLY 8 MINUTES THROUGH GARY ATKINS.

A FAIRLY POOR Ist HALF CONTINUED WITH A BELOW-PAR BORO PERFORMANCE, AND THE SCORE REMAINED AT 1-0 AS THE TEAMS LEFT THE FIELD AFTER 45 MINUTES.
BORO STARTED THE 2nd HALF WITH MORE PURPOSE, THEY REPLACED JOEL HARTLEY WITH PAUL ROUTLEDGE WHO HAD STARTED HIS BORO CAREER WITH A HAT FULL OF GOALS, INCLUDING 2 ON HIS LEAGUE DEBUT.
LATER GARY HEPPLES REPLACED SCOTT PHILLIPS TO ADD A LITTLE MORE BITE TO THE TEAM AND SOON AFTER DAVE THOMPSON ALMOST FOUND AN EQUALISER FOR BORO, BUT HIS SHOT WAS WELL SAVED BY WILSON IN THE TEVERSAL GOAL.
BORO LOOKED BRIGHT AND CONTINUED TO PRESS FOR A GOAL AND IT FINALLY CAME FROM ROB ELLIS ON 65 MINUTES.
AND TO ADD FURTHER DELIGHT FOR THE TRAVELLING SUPPORTERS ROB FOUND THE BACK OF THE NET AGAIN JUST 7 MINUTES AFTER HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE AFTERNOON, A POWERFUL HEADER HAD LEFT WILSON, THE TEVVIE' GOALKEEPER WITH NO CHANCE OF SAVING.

'Rob Ellis', scorer of both 'Boro' goal's today which proved decisive in our promotion quest.

WHEN THE FINAL WHISTLE SOUNDED THE SCORE REMAINED 2-1 TO BORO, A RESULT WHICH GUARANTEED PROMOTION TO THE NCEL PREMIER DIVISION NEXT SEASON, WE NOW REQUIRE JUST ANOTHER 4 POINTS TO GUARANTEE FINISHING THE SEASON AS DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS.
THE FIRST 3 OF THOSE POINTS COULD COME ON TUESDAY EVENING WHEN BRIGHOUSE TOWN WILL BE VISITORS TO QUEENSGATE. I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE A BRIGHOUSE PLAYER ON TUESDAY, IT WILL BE A VERY SPECIAL OCCASSION AND THE TEAM WILL WANT TO IMPRESS. IT COULD ALSO BRING IN THE BIGGEST ATTENDANCE OF THE SEASON.

THE BORO TEAM WHICH FACED TEVERSAL
REID, HOYLE, BOTHAM, HARTAS, WALTHAM, ELLIS, HARTLEY, PHILLIPS, BLOTT, GRIFFIN, THOMPSON.
