SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BIG 'BORO' VICTORY AT A VERY WET TADDY'
Two goals a piece from the returning strike-force of Ryan Blott and Danny Gray gave Boro three points at a soggy Ings Lane against Tadcaster.
Full report from Stuart Fairbridge...
Scarborough Athletic extended their lead to nine points at the top of the league with a comfortable yet unconvincing performance over Tadcaster Albion at a very muddy Ings Lane.
Manager Brian France made no fewer than 6 changes from the FA Vase defeat at Bideford, out of the side went Rob Hoyle, Mark Griffin, Scott Phillips, Craig Hogg, Rich Medcalf and Graham Botham, they were replaced by Jamie Waltham, Gary Hepples, Ryan Blott, Danny Gray, Dave Thompson, and Tom Reid who was making his debut on the right hand side of midfield.
Dave Kemp was given the captain’s armband, the 4th player to receive the honour this season.
Boro started off brightly and created a couple of early chances which were cleared by the Tadcaster defence, but Boro’s early pressure finally paid off after 8 minutes when a mishit right wing cross by Blott was headed in at the far post by Danny Gray who outmuscled the Tadcaster goalkeeper.
Now Boro had their tails up and went on the offensive, Thompson had 2 excellent chances which were turned away by the keeper, including one great acrobatic save, but he had no answer after 20 minutes.
Blott was upended on the edge of the box, but picked himself up to blast a stunning strike into the top right hand corner of the net leaving him rooted to the spot.
Now it was all one way traffic, with Boro surging forward, looking for a 3rd, and 5 minutes before half time it arrived, again Blott was the scorer, turning the ball in after a goalmouth scramble.
Rob Ellis along with Gray were playing against their former club, with Ellis making numerous runs into the box looking for a goal to celebrate the fact, but unfortunately he was off target on a couple of occasions.
The second half started with Blott missing a good chance to complete his hat trick, and then the performance seemed to drop allowing Tadcaster back into the game.
Boro seemed to lose their way after 3 strange substitutions, Phillips coming on for Danny Farthing, Hogg for Thompson and Medcalf for Tom Reid, which gave the team a lopsided 3-3-4 formation.
This gave Tadcaster a bit of confidence, three times they had chances to score, but couldn’t find the finishing touch to good attacking moves.
Despite this Boro still went close on 2 occasions, both from corners that were both headed over by Waltham and Gray.
Finally they got back on the goal trail in the 90th minute with a second of the afternoon for Danny Gray, turning in a cross from the industrious Gary Hepples, who was fantastic all afternoon, winning tackles and spreading the play in the centre of midfield, despite the quagmire conditions.
