SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

ROUND UP OF NCEL DIV ONE RESULTS SAT 15.03 08.
RAINWORTH HAVE MOVED ONE PLACE ABOVE GEDLING AFTER THEIR 2-0 HOME VICTORY OVER ROSSINGTON MAIN.
IF SCARBOROUGH HAD NOT HAD SIX POINTS DEDUCTED BY THE LEAGUE ( A VERY HARSH DECISION) THEY WOULD IN FACT BE IN SECOND PLACE THEMSELVES NOW, AS THEY WOULD BE ON EQUAL POINTS WITH RAINWORTH BUT WITH A BETTER GOAL DIFFERENCE.
OTHER RESULTS FROM TODAY WERE EMLEY 4 TADCASTER 2, AND BORROWASH, WHO ARE OUR NEXT OPPONENTS GAINED A CREDITABLE 1-1 DRAW WITH TEVERSAL.
BOTTESFORD BEAT YORKSHIRE AMATEURS 1-0, BUT THE MOST SURPRISING RESULT IN MY OPINION WAS THE 2-2 DRAW BETWEEN TOP TEAM DINNINGTON TOWN AND STAVELY.
STAVELY WERE 2 GOALS UP INSIDE 9 MINUTES AND WENT IN AT HALF TIME WITH A 2-1 LEAD.
BUT, IT WAS TOP MARKSMAN ANT LYNAM WHO SAVED THE DAY FOR DINNINGTON WITH HIS 61st MINUTE GOAL WHICH ENSURED HIS TEAM GOT AT LEAST ONE POINT FROM THE FIXTURE.
A CROWD OF 101 WATCHED THE GAME.
LEEDS MET' HAD A NARROW 1-0 VICTORY OVER HALL ROAD RANGERS AND WORSBROUGH BRIDGE DREW 2-2 WITH PONTEFRACT COLLIERIES.
I DO NOT HAVE ANY REAL INTEREST IN THE NCEL PREMIER DIVISION BUT I DID FIND IT AMAZING THAT THE TOP SIDE 'GLAPWELL' PLAYED IN FRONT OF A CROWD OF JUST 46 SPECTATORS TODAY. THEY BEAT MID TABLE SIDE 'BRODSWORTH WELFARE' 6-3, MICHAEL FOX AND IAN BROWN RESPECTIVELY EACH SCORING HAT TRICK'S FOR THE HOME SIDE.
SO, THAT JUST ABOUT WRAPS UP THE RESULTS IN OUR LEAGUE FOR TODAY, IF WE HAD NOT BEEN SO HARSHLY TREATED BY THE LEAGUE IN HAVING THE 6 POINT DEDUCTION THEN WE WOULD NOW BE SITTING PROUDLY IN SECOND PLACE IN THE LEAGUE AND FACING THREE SUCCESIVE HOME FIXTURES, NEVER MIND, IT HAS BEEN A FANTASTIC FIRST SEASON FOR US AND WE HAVE EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD, WHATEVER NEXT SEASON BRINGS, WE WILL FACE IT AS A WELL ORGANISED CLUB WITH A GREAT BUNCH OF PLAYERS, WHO SHOULD CERTAINLY BE CAPABLE OF REACHING THE BLUE SQUARE LEAGUES IN A VERY SHORT TIME.
UP THE BORO..........................................
