THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO 4 GEDLING TOWN 1.

ANOTHER EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE FROM SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC, TODAY SAW A MAGNIFICENT 4-1 VICTORY OVER 2nd PLACED GEDLING TOWN.
RYAN BLOTT HAD AN EXCELLENT GAME TODAY AND GOT HIMSELF ON THE SCORESHEET TWICE, HIS FIRST GOAL WAS SUPERB, HE RAN ONTO A PASS AND HIT THE BALL WITH SUCH FORCE THAT EVEN THOUGH THE GEDLING 'KEEPER GOT A HAND TO THE BALL, HE COULD NOT PREVENT IT ENDING UP IN THE BACK OF THE GOAL. THIS WAS BORO'S 2nd GOAL AS GRIFFIN HAD GOT BORO'S OPENER IN THE 12th MINUTE.
IT WAS BLOTT AGAIN WHO GOT GOAL NUMBER 3 FOR BORO, THIS TIME IT WAS A SIMPLE CLOSE RANGE TAP-IN, BUT HE WAS THE MAN IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME ONCE AGAIN.
LEADING SCORER SCOTT PHILLIPS SCORED BORO'S 4th GOAL VERY LATE IN THE GAME, A FANTASTIC VOLLEY WHICH FLEW INTO THE NET LEAVING THE 'KEEPER WITH NO CHANCE OF SAVING.
IT WAS A SHAME THAT YOUNG SCOTT FOUND HIS WAY INTO THE REFEREE'S BOOK FOR A BIT OF RETALIATION ON A GEDLING PLAYER, THE GEDLING TEAM DID LET THEMSELVES DOWN BADLY, THEY FELL APART AS BORO PLAYED SOME MAGNIFICENT FOOTBALL AND THEY WERE LUCKY TO FINISH THE GAME WITH AS MANY AS 10 PLAYERS STILL ON THE FIELD, ANOTHER REFEREE ON ANOTHER DAY COULD EASILY HAVE SENT OFF ANOTHER 2 GEDLING PLAYERS, AS THEY JUST LOST ALL THEIR DISCIPLINE AND COULD NOT ACCEPT THE WAY IN WHICH THEY WERE BEING COMPLETELY OUTPLAYED BY A VERY GOOD SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC SIDE. THEIR SKIPPER WAS GIVEN HIS MARCHING ORDERS FOR DISSENT.
IT WAS A SHAME THAT THE CROWD WAS UNDER 500, BUT ON TODAYS PERFORMANCE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE BORO FANS WHO WERE THERE TODAY ARE SURE TO RETURN FOR THE BORROWASH MATCH AND I THINK WE CAN REALISTICALLY EXPECT ANOTHER 100 OR SO ON TOP OF THAT FIGURE FOR THE EASTER MONDAY FIXTURE, WHICH WOULD TAKE THE GATE WELL OVER 500.
NOW, WITH 3 HOME GAMES TO PLAY ON THE BOUNCE CONFIDENCE SHOULD BE SKY HIGH AMONGST EVERYONE WITH AN INTEREST IN THE 'BORO', BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD.
