SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

WOEFUL BORO LOSE AT HOME.
BORO WERE ALREADY ONE GOAL DOWN AND PLAYING TERRIBLE FOOTBALL.
THEN, I GOT A TEAMSHEET AND WAS BEMUSED TO SEE THAT BLOTT, WIDDOWSON AND GRIFFIN WERE ALL SUBSTITUTES, "UNBELIEVABLE".
IT WAS'NT LONG BEFORE WE WERE 2-0 DOWN.
HALF TIME COULD'NT COME QUICK ENOUGH, THE GROUND SEEMED REALLY QUIET TODAY, NO ONE COULD BELIEVE JUST HOW BAD THE TEAM WERE PLAYING.
TODAY WITH PRACTICALLY EVERY FIRST TEAM PLAYER AVAILABLE TO BRIAN FRANCE FOR SELECTION I WAS EXPECTING TO SEE ATHLETIC BACK TO THE PLAYING STANDARD WHICH THEY HAD ACHIEVED UNTIL A FEW PROBLEMS OF LATE i.e INJURIES AND SUSPENSIONS.
WALTHAM WAS TRYING TO BE STRONG IN DEFENCE, BUT THE OTHER DEFENDERS WERE CLUELESS TODAY, DAVE THOMPSON GOT MY 'MAN OF THE MATCH' FOR HIS 'NEVER SAY DIE ATTITUDE ', AND YOUNG RYAN MORTON HAD A GOOD GAME, HE WAS REALLY UNLUCKY WITH A FREE KICK TAKEN FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PITCH SOME 30 YARDS FROM THE GOAL, THE BALL DIPPED AND SWERVED AND CRASHED AGAINST THE LEFT SIDE POST WITH THE RAINWORTH DEFENCE AND GOALKEEPER STRANDED. SADLY THAT WAS ABOUT THE ONLY HIGH POINT OF THE DAY, AT LEAST UNTIL RYAN BLOTT MADE AN APPEARANCE LATER IN THE GAME, BLOTT DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE BUT IT WAS TOO LITTLE TOO LATE. HAD HE STARTED THE GAME THEN IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO DIFFERENT.
THE REFEREE ONCE AGAIN WAS TERRIBLE, HE BOOKED PLAYERS FOR HARMLESS TACKLES AND CHALLENGES AND YET SOME OF THE HACKING BY THE RAINWORTH PLAYERS WENT UNPUNISHED, TWICE RYAN MORTON COMPLAINED ABOUT THE RAINWORTH DEFENDERS STANDING ABOUT 5 YARDS IN FRONT OF HIM WHEN HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO TAKE FREE KICKS, BOTH TIMES THE REF' TOLD HIM "TO GET ON WITH IT" , THEY WERE CONSTANTLY SHIRT PULLING, DIVING AND BLATANTLY TIME WASTING, I THOUGHT AT ONE POINT THEIR MANAGER WAS GOING TO COME AND CONFRONT JAMIE WALTHAM AFTER HE HAD MISTIMED A TACKLE ON ONE OF THEIR PLAYERS, HE REMINDED ME OF THE EX MANAGER OF ROSSINGTON MAIN 'IAN DRING' , HE WAS A MOUTHY **** ALSO.
THE REFEREE DID NOT PUNISH THEM AT ALL YET A BORO PLAYER WAS MADE TO PAY FOR ANY SLIP, I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT REFEREES ARE TREATING SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC DIFFERENTLY TO ALL THE OTHER SMALLER SUPPORTED CLUBS IN THIS LEAGUE.
THE GAME WAS ONE OF THE WORST BORO PERFORMANCES I HAVE WITNESSED, WHY DID WE PERSIST WITH LONG HIGH BALLS WHEN THEIR KEEPER WAS ABOUT 6' 6" ?
I HAVE BEEN FULL OF PRAISE FROM DAY ONE FOR BRIAN FRANCE, BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HIS TEAM SELECTION AND TACTICS TODAY.
WE WENT 3-0 DOWN, WE BROUGHT ON ALL THREE SUBSTITUTES AND THE ADDITION OF RYAN BLOTT HAD AN IMMEDIATE EFFECT AS HE HAD A FEW NICE TOUCHES.
THE GAME ENDED 3-1 TO RAINWORTH, I HAD LEFT BEFORE OUR LATE CONSOLATION GOAL SCORED BY RYAN BLOTT.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TUESDAYS GAME AGAINST HALL ROAD RANGERS, LESSONS MUST HAVE BEEN LEARNT TODAY AND THE TEAM SIMPLY CANNOT TURN OUT ANOTHER PERFORMANCE LIKE TODAYS.
UP THE BORO........................................................................
