THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

NEWS FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE.

Pontefract Collieries have been surprised by the ammount of interest shown for a football team dedicated to people with learning disabilities in the town.
The club placed a piece in the local paper and were overwhelmed at the response.
A launch date of February 9th has been set, aimed at 15 year olds and above, and depending on the success of this, other team's should follow, especially for children, as the club have received much interest from youngsters desperate to play football.

Further information on this project can be obtained from Trevor Waddington (07825 418999).

Gedling Town have confirmed that caretaker boss John Humphries and Tony Cox have been appointed until the end of the season, the pair have been repaid for the good job which they have done since the departure from the club of Lee Wilson and Jimmy Albans.

Barton Town have been deducted 3 points for fielding two players while they were serving suspensions.

Tom Lee and Matty McKay played in the 2-0 home league win over Bottesford Town on 1st September while suspended.

Borrowash Victoriaboss Mark Wilson has finally got his man, he has been chasing Rob Spencer who was at local rivals Mickleover Sports, Spencer is boss Wilson's 5th signing.

Tadcaster Albion's very existence could be in doubt, after very bad flooding to both the ground and facilities it is estimated that the repair cost could be as high as £10,000.

Last year arsonists caused damage which ammounted to roughly the same figure, the club are hoping for help from local buisnesses etc, but they have not ruled out the possibility of relocation. The club with a proud 116 year history are situated very close to the River Wharfe, which had burst it's banks.
Scarborough Athletic's boss Brian France has turned down an approach from a Unibond league side.A bigger club was sure to come after Brian considering what he has achieved in such a short time at Scarborough. The club must surely offer Brian a contract which will reflect the magnificent progress which the club has made under his guidance.
