THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

TOP 3 TEAMS RUN IN TO THE END OF THE SEASON

It is looking like a 3 way chase for the NCEL Premier League Championship, Boro' have 7 games to play and if the men in red can win each game then no one can prevent them being crowned champions.
Boro' are presently in 2nd position behind leaders Brighouse Town, but have a game in hand are just one point behind Town.
In third place are Bridlington Town, they are 7 points behind 2nd placed Boro' and have a game in hand, but they must be regarded as the outsiders of the top three to gain promotion.
As for the remaining fixtures Boro have four home games and three away, we host Tadcaster tomorrow, then are classed as the away team in the Bridlington Town derby at Easter, we follow that game with a home fixture with Barton Town Old Boys, then home again to Winterton Rangers, next is what promises to be so important, the away game at present leaders Brighouse Town, the final two games of our season sees Retford Town visit Queensgate and finally we travel to Glasshoughton.
Brighouse Town have six games remaining and cannot afford to slip up in any one of them, tomorrow they travel to Maltby Main, following that is a home match against Hall Road Rangers, then away to Thackley, followed by the home game against Boro' and they follow that with two tough away games at Barton Town and Tadcaster Albion respectively.
Bridlington Town's season finishes like this, Thackley away, Parkgate away, Boro' at home, Barton Town away, Liversedge home, Arnold Town away, Worksop Town away, and finally a home game with Long Eaton Utd.
Top of the table tonight looks like this.
BRIGHOUSE. played 36. 84 points. +55.
BORO'            played 35. 83points. +71.
BRID TOWN. played 34. 76 points. +70
So, a very difficult run in for Bridlingto Town who I personally think are out of the race, but Boro and Brighouse could both be in with a shout right up to the final game of the season.
Wrap up well tomorrow at Queensgate.
                                            UP THE BORO'.
