THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO FIGHT BACK TO TAKE ALL 3 POINT'S FROM HALL ROAD RANGERS.

AT A VERY WINDY QUEENSGATE  SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC STUTTERED TO A 2-1 VICTORY AGAINST A FAIRLY CAPABLE LOOKING HALL ROAD RANGERS OUTFIT.
BORO STARTED THE GAME IN A CONVINCING MANNER BUT THIS ROBUST START WAS TO BE SHORTLIVED AS IT WAS RANGERS WHO WOULD HAVE THE LIONS SHARE OF POSSESSION THROUGHOUT THE OPENING FORTY FIVE MINUTES.
BUT IN SPITE OF THEIR POSSESSION THEY NEVER ACTUALLY THREATENED THE BORO GOAL, AS THE BORO DEFENCE HELD FIRM AND AGAINST THE STRONG WIND PLAYED THEMSELVES OUT OF TROUBLE TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
BORO FRONT MEN BLOTT AND BERNARD HAD A FRUSTRATING TIME AS THEY GOT VERY LITTLE SERVICE AND THE INCLUSION OF WINDASS IN THE STARTING ELEVEN WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL.
WE MISSED THE BITE OF GARY HEPPLES IN MIDFIELD, HE WOULD BE IN MY STARTING LINE UP EVERY TIME, AND BILL LAW DID NOT HAVE THE SPACE HE NORMALLY HAS.
ANYWAY, RANGERS GOT THEMSELVES A DISPUTED DIRECT FREE KICK TOWARDS THE END OF THE HALF, AND THEY SCORED THE OPENING GOAL FROM THAT KICK.
THE BALL SAILED OVER THE BORO DEFENSIVE WALL AND BEAT KEV MARTIN IN THE BORO GOAL, TO BE FAIR TO MARTIN, IT WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE SHOTS WHICH WOULD HAVE BEATEN MOST GOALKEEPERS.AS SOON AS IT WAS HIT, YOU JUST KNEW THAT IT WAS GOING TO GO HIGH INTO THE OPPOSITE CORNER OF THE GOAL.
SO HALF TIME ARRIVED WITH BORO 1-0 DOWN.
THINGS WOULD PROBABLY IMPROVE IN THE 2nd HALF AS BORO WOULD HAVE THE WIND BEHIND THEM.
THE SAME ELEVEN RESUMED THE 2nd HALF, AND NOTHING REALLY CHANGED UNTIL RUDY FUNK FINALLY DECIDED TO BRING OFF WINDASS AND LAW AND REPLACE THEM  WITH HEPPLES AND HEWITT RESPECTIVELY, THIS WAS ON THE HOUR MARK AND 15 MINUTES AFTER THESE FIRST CHANGES RUDY BROUGHT OFF JIMMY GHAICHEM AND REPLACED HIM WITH FRANK BELT.
NOW BORO WERE REJUVENATED, THE DIFFERENCE WAS APPARENT STRAIGHT AWAY.
BORO WERE PASSING THE BALL AROUND NOW WITH MORE INTENT, HEPPLES WAS STRONG IN MIDFIELD AND AFTER MUCH PRESSURE BORO FINALLY FOUND THEIR DESERVED EQUALISER.
SKIPPER HACKWORTH WHO WAS PROBABLY MAN OF THE MATCH PUT THE BALL IN THE BACK OF THE RANGERS GOAL FOLLOWING MAYHEM IN THEIR DEFENCE CAUSED BY ONE OF GARY HEPPLES TRADEMARK LONG THROWS.
IT WAS ALL BORO NOW AND SURELY THE WINNING GOAL WOULD COME IF BORO JUST KEPT UP THE PRESSURE, AND MUCH TO THE DELIGHT OF THEIR FANS, PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT ALIKE THE GOAL FINALLY CAME DEEP IN INJURY TIME.
THE 93rd MINUTE BY MY WATCH TO BE EXACT, FOLLOWING A GREAT CROSS FROM THE RIGHT BORO FULL BACK PADDY MILLER JUMPED AND HEADED A BRILLIANT GOAL TO SECURE THE POINTS FOR THE BORO.
IN FAIRNESS THE RANGERS PLAYERS PROBABLY FELT THEY DESERVED SOMETHING FROM THE GAME, BUT ONCE AGAIN BORO PROVED THAT THEY WILL NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT AND THEIR CONSTANT PRESSURE THROUGHOUT THE FINAL 20 MINUTES OR SO DID REWARD THEM THE 3 POINTS ON OFFER.
