THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

6 GOAL DERBY THRILLER BETWEEN BORO AND TOWN.

IT TOOK BORO JUST 40 SECONDS TO TAKE THE LEAD IN THIS LOCAL DERBY AGAINST LANDLORD'S BRIDLINGTON TOWN.
A MIKE PRICE CORNER COULD NOT BE STOPPED FROM GOING INTO THE NET BY AN UNDER PRESSURE TOWN 'KEEPER SAYNOR
BUT THIS EARLY GOAL WAS PRETTY MUCH ALL BORO HAD TO CELEBRATE DURING THE WHOLE OF THE FIRST HALF.
TOWN CONTROLLED THE GAME AND HAD SO MANY CHANCES, BUT BORO HELD FIRM AND KEPT THEIR LEAD, THAT IS UNTIL THEY ENTERED INJURY TIME AND TOWN FINALLY GOT THEIR WELL DESERVED EQUALISER, STEVE LYON THE TOWN GOALSCORER.
HALF TIME 1-1.
TOWN CAME OUT FOR THE 2ND HALF AND CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BORO DEFENCE, BUT A MIX OF POOR FINISHING PLUS ANOTHER EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE FROM WOODHEAD IN THE BORO GOAL MEANT THE SCORES REMAINED THE SAME UNTIL THE 60TH MINUTE WHEN BORO TOOK THE LEAD COMPLETELY AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY.
BORO'S BILL LAW PUT RYAN BLOTT THROUGH ON THE BRID GOAL AND RYAN MADE NO MISTAKE AS HE COMFORTABLY BEAT SAYNOR TO PUT BORO BACK INTO THE LEAD.
BUT AS ON PREVIOUS OCCASSIONS BORO SAT BACK AFTER TAKING THEIR LEAD AND LET TOWN EQUALISE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.
EX BORO, NOW TOWN FAVOURITE CRAIG HOGG GOT TOWN'S 2ND GOAL A COUPLE OF MINUTES AFTER BLOTT'S 2ND BORO GOAL.
TOWN THEN TOOK THE LEAD, POOR BORO DEFENDING ALLOWED JAMES BENNETT TO PUT TOWN INTO THE LEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE GAME.
BUT THE BEST WAS SAVED UNTIL THE LAST TODAY.
RYAN BLOTT SCORED BORO'S 3RD GOAL AND IT WAS A GOAL THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT FOR SOME TIME, RYAN SEEMED TO TAKE ON THE TOWN DEFENCE ALL ON HIS OWN, AND AFTER PASSING 3 OR 4 TOWN PLAYERS HE SLAMMED THE BALL INTO THE TOP OF THE GOAL FROM A DIFFICULT ANGLE GIVING SAYNOR NO CHANCE OF SAVING, THIS NOT ONLY GAVE BORO A SHARE OF THE POINTS BUT HE TREAT THE FANS TO PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST GOALS EVER  TO BE SEEN AT QUEENSGATE.
ANOTHER FANTASTIC DERBY GAME, 6 GOALS, GREAT ATMOSPHERE, FANS ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT THE NEXT GAME BETWEEN THE 2 SIDES AT CHRISTMAS.
