THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

5-1 VICTORY TO END SEASON FOR TRIUMPHANT 'BORO'.

The final game of the season got off to a jittery start for Scarborough Athletic, a poor 1st half display saw them leave the field after 45 minutes 1-0 down to Arnold Town.
But, as we have seen on more than one occasion throughout the season the 2nd half  proved to be a completely different game, it proved to be a real 'game of 2 halves'.
After constant Boro pressure they found their 1st goal after 59 minutes, a pass from Billy Law put Ryan Blott through on goal and Ryan made no mistake with his effort.
Boro pressed for another goal and after near misses from both Craig Palmer and Dave Hartas it was in fact Palmer who eventually found the back of the Town net, a Scott Phillips shot was partially blocked by Broster in the Town goal and the ever alert Palmer was on hand to put the ball into the Town net from close range to give Boro into the lead for the first time in the match.
Next to score was Scott Phillips, following good work by Blott, Scott put his side into a comfortable 3-1 lead.
Just 1 minute later the score was 4-1, this time Ryan Blott the scorer with a sensational shot which left the Town keeper with no chance of saving the ball.
Late in the game Joel Hartley was substituted by James Webb and within 5 minutes of his introduction Webb scored his first Boro goal.
An excellent 2nd half performance, a 5-1 victory, which guaranteed us a 5th place finish in the league, which is a fantastic achievement for the club considering we won promotion only last season to the Premier division of the NCEL.
Next season promises to be really exciting,and in my opinion  we will have an excellent chance of finishing as either champions or runners-up.
