THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

NEW LEAGUE RECORD AS 'BORO' DEFEAT BRODSWORTH WELFARE 13-0.

A fantastic performance from Scarborough Athletic saw them bag 13 goals against, it has to be said, a poor Brodsworth side, but in spite of it being a very one sided affair, Boro played some magnificent football and gave their fans a real treat in the Queensgate sunshine.
Ryan Blott almost scored after just 4 minutes, but after beating the Brodsworth defence almost single handed his resulting shot hit the post and went to safety.
Craig Palmer got the 1st goal, heading home from a corner after 7 minutes, this was followed by Blott's 1st goal of the day just 60 seconds later, the 2 Boro frontmen would both go on to score hat-trick's, along with substitute Richard Medcalf who actually replaced Blott in the 62nd minute of the game.

ONE OF THE MANY BORO ATTACKS.

Blott turned provider for Boro's 3rd goal, he supplied the cross which led to Graham Botham scoring number 3 in the 20th minute.Dave Hartas then got his name on the scoresheet 3 minutes later to make the score 4-0.
The game was a succession of Boro attacks, you had to feel for the Brodsworth players as they were completely outplayed in every department, but they kept their heads up and did their best but they had no answer to Scarborough Athletic and on the half hour mark Scott Phillips scored number 5 and this was followed just 2 minutes later with Ryan Blotts 2nd goal of the day.

Defender Michael Gibson got his first goal for the club 6 minutes before the break and so the half time whistle sounded with the score Boro 7-Brodsworth 0
The 2nd half got under way and it took Boro about 10 minutes to get into their stride but once they did it became all one way just as the first half had been.
Craig Palmer increased the Boro lead in the 62nd minute and Ryan Blott added his teams 9th goal just 3 minutes later.
Boss Brian France then decided to replace Ryan Blott with Richard Medcalf and within 2 minutes of his introduction to the game Meddy scored goal number 10.
Next to be substituted was Joel Hartley who also had a terrific game on the wing, his crosses and corners in particular had created no end of problems to the Brodsworth defence throughout, Joel was replaced by Billy Law.
With 20 minutes remaining Craig Palmer completed his hat trick.
Dave Hartas who had also had a faultless game was then replaced by Dave Ricardo.
The 3rd hat trick of the day was then completed as Richard Medcalf scored the final 2 goals of the afternoon in the 75th and 80th minute of the game.
So 13 goals, a new record for the league, and 3 hat tricks which also must be a record, I will have to check on that one, a brilliant all round performance by the team, what a shame that the crowd was below the normal expected attendance, present in the ground were 330 fans.
Only 2 games to go now, away to Arnold on Tuesday evening and the return game with the same team on Saturday, we should finish the season in 5th place.
