THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

UNBELIEVABLE COMMENTS BY FANS AND LOCAL PAPER FOLLOWING BAD SPELL.

Scarborough Athletic are having a spot of bad luck at the moment, results are not going our way and realistically we are not going to win any trophies this season, but we are still in 6th position in the league, still pulling in excellent crowds, slightly lower than they would have been had we been on a winning streak, but still respectable and I expect around 400 Boro fans to travel to Pickering on Saturday for the derby clash in the NCEL Premier division.
We have a great club, excellent manager, a hard working board, we run transport to all games, but still the local paper and a handful of so called fans, more than a handful really, do their best to run the club down and bad mouth the people who really matter if the club is to progress even further in the future, the great thing about supporting "Boro" was the way that everyone was always 100% behind the team and respected the managers and clubs decisions, but sadly all has changed due to a run of poor results and performances.
The last game which was the 3-1 defeat at home to a poor Parkgate side reminded me of the moaning bastards who used to watch the old Scarborough FC, every defeat or bad performance resulted in idiotic shouts of "sack the manager" and worse, abuse was thrown at the players and certain fans just made complete fools of themselves, this is what is starting to happen now with Athletc, this sort of behaviour will not give the players confidence, it will just make matters worsen and we will probably see more players leave the club if it continues.
Do these people really need reminding just how lucky we are to have a club at all, we have achieved so much in such a short time, and now following our first really bad run and general poor play from the team has been met with ridiculous postings on the forum, negative reporting by the local paper of behind the scene events, not only negative but not true.
There has been shouts of getting rid of the manager and bringing in Rudy Funk from Rainworth, they have just failed to win for the 6th successive game, Brian France has worked wonders with Boro right from the very start of the clubs formation and he deserves to be supported through this temporary bad spell the club are having and shown some respect.
It would be good to see a big turnout of Boro fans on Saturday and all 100% behind the team, the fans do determine how the team perform, the team need to know that the fans are backing them, at the moment too many "fans" are not behind the team, they would probably be better staying at home.
TOP OF THE TABLE:
BRIDLINGTON TOWN  28/69
RAINWORTH   26/60
ARMTHORPE  26/59
THACKLEY  27/54
BORO  26/47
SELBY  23/43
Top games to watch for on Saturday,
PICKERING TOWN v SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC
ARMTHORPE v HALLAM
BRIDLINGTON TOWN  v RAINWORTH
THACKLEY v LINCOLN MR
SELBY TOWN v WINTERTON
Top of the table clash at Queensgate as leaders Bridlington Town host Rudy Funk's Rainworth, Rudy's team have just lost a Notts Senior cup quarter final tie 4-2 at home to Dunkirk, this was the 6th  successive game that Rainworth failed to win, so Brid' will be confident of opening up an even bigger gap at the top of the table on Saturday.
