THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

GREAT PERFORMANCE AGAINST LUCKLESS NOSTELL MINERS WELFARE.

Bill Law wanted the pass as Richard Medcalf shoots for goal.

Something new for me as I paid my £6 to enter the ground, I was asked if I was a concession, has this trying season really made me look like a pensioner, I will use a different turnstile next time, one not operated by a Welshman.
Anyway the game kicked off and the opening minutes were not so good, I would never have thought then that the game would have 7 goals in it.
Nostell actually had the ball in the Boro goal after just 7 minutes but it was ruled offside.

Unlucky Mark Griffin had to go to hospital with a suspected broken bone to his foot.

Boro did score the 1st goal of the game just 10 minutes later, following  a Graham Botham corner Ryan Blott was on hand to score from close range.
Soon after Mark Griffin injured himself and had to be replaced by Joel Hartley, Mark had to go to hospital with a suspected broken bone in his foot.
Joel took full advantage of his inclusion to the

game and for my money he was man of the match today, with Ryan Blott a very close 2nd.
Soon after the change for Boro, Nostell against the run of play grabbed themselves an equaliser, poor Boro defending gifted Nostell's Darren Rushton with a sitter.
Boro pressed for another goal and right on half time it came, a Ryan Blott effort came back off the post and as Scott Phillips attempted to get to the ball he was fouled and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Scott himself stepped up and put Boro back into a much deserved lead
HALF TIME BORO 2.NOSTELL 1.
Nostell came out for the 2nd half looking confident, and they missed 2 early chances, but Boro picked themselves up and took full control of the remainder of the game.
In the 76th minute of the game Ryan Blott

Sam Dobbs on his back as Boro score goal number 3, and above goalscorer Scott Phillips is congratulated.

played a perfect ball through for Scott Phillips who easily beat the hapless Sam Dobbs in the Nostell goal, Sam just laid out on the grass looking up to the heavens, I think he probably knew that more of the same was to follow as Boro were looking really good now, more like their old selves, confident and passing the ball well.
Ryan Blott himself scored the 4th Boro goal, beating a couple of defenders before sliding the ball past Sam into the back of the goal .
New signing Bill Law now entered the game replacing Rob Northern and I think he looks like being a good signing for the Boro.
Boro were completely outplaying Nostell and a 5th goal was sure to come soon, it was my 'man of the match' Joel Hartley who scored the goal, following a pass from Scott Phillips he beat Sam Dobbs under difficult circumstances, it was good for Joel to get his name on the scoresheet.
The crowd now wanted 6 and it came in the 85th minute from a free kick taken by Mike Price, the ball went past everyone including Sam Dobbs, it may have got a deflection, I could'nt really tell, but it was a great strike and that was to be the final score, when a few home fans were having a bit of banter with Sam Dobbs about the 6 goals he smiled and said that he thought it was 7 anyway, he is still my favourite visiting player but I feel that next season he will not be here as his team are likely to drop into Division 1.
So a much improved Boro performance, the defence is still suspect, it has never looked solid since losing Jamie Waltham in his moment of madness, I do not know what the situation is regarding Jamie in the future but he is a class player and we were a much better team with him playing.
Away to Thackley next Saturday, lets hope for a good turnout of travelling fans.
UP THE BORO.............
I just want to mention the referee, Mr W Grunnill, I thought he had an excellent game and if I were to give marks out of 10 then it would be the same 8 which the referee got for the Winterton game at which I was not present on Wednesday.
UP THE BORO........
