THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

3 RED CARDS IN NARROW ARMTHORPE DEFEAT.

Another defeat for Scarborough Athletic, but an improved performance against one of the leagues better sides. Goalkeeper Glen Powley returned to the Boro goal after an absence of almost 12 months as Aaran Reid was not fully fit.
Welfare started the stronger and had excellent chances in the opening minutes, Boro skipper Graham Botham headed one Welfare effort of the Boro goal-line on 10 minutes.
But just 2 minutes later Welfare took the lead, poor defending by Boro following a Welfare free kick lead to Welfare's Jamie Walker opening the scoring for his side.
But Boro picked themselves up and played well throughout the half, Ryan Blott in particular had his chances but it was not to be his or Boro's day.
Boro did equalise in the 35th minute as Richard Medcalf was on hand to slot the ball home following a Mark Griffin shot which was only partially dealt with by Welfare 'keeper Jamie Green.
Half time 1-1.
Kemp was replaced by Ellis for the start of the 2nd half and an entertaining game saw Boro take the lead on the hour mark, Scott Phillips playing his 100th game for the club scoring after being in the right place to tap home following a cross from Mark Griffin.
But, sadly just 2 minutes later Welfare were level as they were awarded a penalty, Boro's Moore was alledged to have pulled back Welfare's  Simpson in the penalty area.
Hardy stepped up and sent Powley the wrong way with his shot.
In the 76th minute Welfare were given their 2nd spot kick,Hardy again stepped up and Hardy again scored giving Welfare a 3-2 lead, a hectic final quarter followed and another 2 red cards were brandished, Welfare's Craig Morley was first to go following a dangerous 2 footed lunge on Boro's Dave Hartas and in the final minute of the game Boro lost Moore as he was given his marching orders following a tangle with Welfare's Holden, both were booked and Moore on his 2nd yellow had to walk.
Boro have the chance to find some much neede points on Tuesday evening when Lincoln MR are visitors to Queensgate.
UP THE BORO...............
