THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC & SCARBOROUGH LADIES IN OFFICIAL LINK-UP.

Scarborough Athletic FC and Scarborough Ladies FC are proud to announce a new partnership – created for the future of football in Scarborough.
The clubs have had a link over the past year, with Boro director James Hunter also a committee member with the Ladies' side, and Ladies' secretary Natalie Davies being co-opted onto the Boro board for the past 18 months.
In addition Athletic have sponsored the Ladies under-12s side for the past two seasons, helped provide the Ladies first team with playing kit, and the Ladies committee and players have attended many Athletic games and functions.
Each club will maintain its own identity and committee, with the partnership seeing a more formal arrangement between the two clubs – who will work together in the local community and put on joint events such as sporting dinners and fund-raising nights.
A partnership group comprising of three members of each club's committee will meet regularly and formulate plans for the benefit of both clubs, their supporters, sponsors and players.
The group will also put energy into working alongside Scarborough Borough Council in their aim to provide a sustainable facility for sport in the town
Scarborough Ladies chairman Andy Dunn said: “It's great that we can come together as two clubs within our local community, to focus on football and sport in Scarborough.
“Athletic have high ambitions for the future, and as the town's development club for ladies' football we are happy to be involved in their aims as the town's senior football team.”
Athletic's acting chairman Tony Brown said: “I am delighted to strengthen the link we have with Scarborough Ladies, by formalising this partnership.
“The success of both teams over the past couple of years bodes well for a long-lasting and beneficial partnership, both on and off the field.
“Having attended meetings with Andy Dunn, I see the drive and enthusiasm he has for his club, and that matches our own ambition at Scarborough Athletic.
“I look forward to a great working relationship between the clubs, and I can see a bright future for Scarborough football.”
