THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

1,082 fans see Scarborough Athletic top NCEL Premier Division.

The much awaited derby game with our hosts Bridlington Town finally came around and 1,082 fans were present inside Queensgate to witness a remarkable 'Boro' performance. The first half was'nt as good as the second, in fact Town were the 1-0 leaders as the half time whistle sounded. Hotte had given Town an early 6th minute lead, but Boro boss Brian France worked his half time magic once again and Boro came out revitalised and it took just 6 minutes of the re-start for them to find the equalising goal, a terrific header from  from Dave Hartas, Town had their chances but a mix of both poor finishing from Town and an inspired goalkeeping performance from Boro's much improved Arran Reid eventually led to Boro finding the winning goal.
It came on the hour mark from the penalty spot, the penalty was hotly disputed by Town but the referee had made the correct decision and penalty king Scott Phillips stepped up to fire home what turned out to be the winning goal, the penalty was given for a handball in the Town defence following a shot from Scott Phillips. In fairness Boro had to hang on a little but they deserved their eventual victory and their spot at the top of the league table tonight after a fantastic 2nd half performance.
Unfortunately for Boro, their fellow championship contenders Armthorpe and Rainworth also had victories today, but it will be all eyes on Queensgate this coming Tuesday as Armthorpe will be the visitors to take on Scarborough Athletic where victory for Boro  would see them go 5 points clear at the top of the league table.
Today's Boro team.

TOP OF THE TABLE TONIGHT:
Scarborough Ath.  36pts
Bridlington Town. 34pts.
Armthorpe Welfare. 34pts.
Rainworth Welfare. 34pts.
Selby Town. 26pts.
Even at this early stage of the season it is difficult to see any serious challengers to the present top 4 placed teams.
ROLL ON TUESDAY. BORO v ARMTHORPE WELFARE.
The following Saturday sees us play Bridlington Town once again, not a league fixture this time but an FA Vase game, and with a final date at Wembley the prize for the eventual finalists another cracking game is on the cards between these 2 sides and possibly an even bigger attendance than todays excellent turnout of 1,082 which I am sure will have set a new all time NCEL crowd record.
UP THE BORO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
