THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

TOMMOROWS OPPONENTS..BRODSWORTH WELFARE "BRODDY"

Our opponents tommorow Brodsworth Welfare are yet to win a league game this season and they will not be relishing the prospect of playing host to high flying Scarborough Athletic at The Welfare Ground tommorow.
'Broddy' have played 8 games and in those games they have conceded 50 goals and scored just 3 and are placed firmly at the bottom of the table.
Their season started badly as they were thrashed 9-1 at home to Hallam in front of just 34 fans.
That was bad enough, but worse was to come for 'Broddy' as Armthorpe Welfare were the next visitors to the Welfare Ground and the game ended in a 10-0 victory for Armthorpe.
The short trip to Parkgate was next and yet another defeat, this time 7-0 and just 2 days later it was back on the road to face Hull based Hall Road Rangers, the game ended in a 4-0 victory for Rangers.
A welcome home game to Pickering Town followed and although the scoreline was a more respectable 1-0, it was still in 'Broddy's' opponents favour.
Their next game was away to Selby Town and this ended in a 6-1 defeat for 'Broddy'.
Last week they had to travel to Queensgate to face the leaders at the time 'Bridlington Town' and Town eventually ran out comfortable 8-1 winners, 'Broddy's' consolation goal and only their 3rd goal of the season came from Shane Fox.
So, their next game tommorow will be against new league leaders 'Scarborough Athletic', but whatever the outcome of this game 'Broddy' will be in with a real chance of securing their 1st points of the season the following week when they will travel to fellow strugglers 'Shirebrook Town' who are also on zero points, just above Brodsworth on goal difference.
Scarborough Athletic will be looking for goals tommorow as their goal difference is not as good as some of their rivals, and come the seasons end the way the league is shaping up now then goals are probarbly going to play a big part in seperating some teams. Ironically our last 2 scheduled home league games are against Shirebrook and Brodsworth respectively, it is a long way to go yet and things do change but if these 2 teams are going to continue to be the strugglers they now are then it is a good way for us to finish our season.
A big 'Boro' following of around 300 are sure to be present at the Welfare Ground tommorow cheering the team on, and anyone in the Doncaster area with time on their hands tommorow afternoon could do a lot worse than take in this game of football. Boro are playing some excellent football week in, week out and are well worth the admission money.
UP THE BORO...............................
