THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

89th MINUTE GOAL SEALS CUP WIN FOR NOSTELL.

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC WELCOMED BACK DAVE KEMP AFTER INJURY FOR TONIGHTS PRESIDENTS CUP FINAL GAME.
THE OTHER 10 PLYERS WERE THE SAME THAT TURNED OUT FOR THE FINAL LEAGUE MATCH 3 DAYS EARLIER AT SCUNTHORPE BASED "APPLEBY FRODINGHAM".
THE BORO TEAM:
REID. WOOD. BOTHAM.HARTAS. KEMP. ELLIS. GRIFFIN. PHILLIPS. BLOTT. GRAY. HOGG.
SUBS:
THOMPSON. HEPPLES. MEDCALF.
THE GAME GOT OFF TO A LIVELY START AS DANNY GRAY SAW HIS SHOT CLEARED FROM THE NOSTELL GOAL-LINE.
IN SPITE OF THE EARLY BORO PRESSURE IT WAS NOSTELL WHO TOOK THE LEAD AFTER JUST 4 MINUTES AS POOR DEFENDING IN THE BORO DEFENCE ALLOWED AN UNMARKED DAVE WATTS, THE NOSTELL SKIPPER A FREE HEADER AT GOAL AND HE MADE NO MISTAKE WITH JUST AARON REID TO BEAT IN THE BORO GOAL.
BORO FOUGHT BACK WELL AND IT TOOK JUST 6 MINUTES BEFORE THEY WERE BACK ON LEVEL TERMS.
DANNY GRAY WAS THE BORO HERO, FOLLOWING A RYAN BLOTT CORNER AND A DAVE KEMP SHOT BEEN CLEARED OFF THE LINE THE BALL ENDED UP AT THE FEET OF DANNY GRAY WHO MADE NO MISTAKE FROM CLOSE RANGE.
BORO PRESSED FOR ANOTHER GOAL IN THE DRIVING RAIN BUT THE HALF TIME WHISTLE SOUNDED WITH THE SCORES TIED AT 1-1.
THE 2nd HALF WAS NOT AS EXCITING AS THE FIRST, BORO HAD ONLY 2 SHOTS ON GOAL BEFORE A FLOODLIGHT FAILURE IN THE 56th MINUTE RESULTED IN AN UNSCHEDULED BREAK OF 15 MINUTES.
AFTER THE RE-START BORO PRESSED FOR THE WINNING GOAL BUT THEY NEVER LOOKED LIKE THE TEAM WHO HAD PLAYED SO WELL DURING THE FIRST 45 MINUTES.
WHEN BORO DID MAKE A BREAKTHROUGH THEN SAM DOBBS IN THE NOSTELL GOAL MANAGED TO SAVE THE DAY FOR HIS TEAM.
THEN, IN THE 89th MINUTE AND WITH EVERYONE EXPECTING EXTRA TIME NOSTELL BROKE THE HEARTS OF THE MAJORITY OF THE 559 FANS INSIDE QUEENSGATE WHEN THEY SOMEHOW FOUND THE WINNING GOAL. ANOTHER DEFENSIVE MIX UP BY BORO ALLOWED NOSTELL'S FRAN JOHNSON TO HEAD HOME THEIR 2nd AND DECISIVE GOAL.
SO IT WAS A MIXED END OF SEASON FOR SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC, RUNAWAY CHAMPIONS IN THE NCEL, UNDEFEATED AT HOME IN THE LEAGUE ALL SEASON AND CUP FINALISTS, ROBBED IN THE FINAL MINUTE OF THE 90.
IN SPITE OF THIS DEFEAT IT HAS BEEN A GREAT SEASON FOR THE CLUB AND ITS FANS AND NEXT SEASON CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH FOR ME.
UP THE BORO............
