THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

MAGNIFICENT 'BORO' KNOCK 'TEVVIE' FOR SIX.

Another impressive performance from Scarborough Athletic, and another great turn-out of fans, 544 in all. There were 10 games played in the NCEL Premier Division and all the attendances added together came to just over 100 more than the Boro attendance at Queensgate.

The game started in typical fashion, Boro attacking from the start and Dave Kemp almost scored within 30 seconds, but the first goal did arrive after just 9 minutes, the scorer was Rob Ellis and it took only another 4 minutes for Boro to double their lead as Scott Phillips bundled the ball home following a Graham Botham corner.
Rob Ellis was on hand in the 19th minute to score his 2nd and Boro's 3rd, he was fortunate as the Tevesal 'keeper hit one of his own players with the ball and Rob was on hand to send the ball into the back of the net and give Boro a 3 goal advantage.
Boro dominated and just past the half hour mark Ryan Blott headed a superb goal to give Boro a 4-0 lead and that remained the score as the teams left the field after 45 minutes.
The 2nd half got under way and Boro's Richard Medcalfe was given a straight red card for what I think was adjudged to have been a 2 footed tackle, anyhow it was a harsh decision as there was no malice in the challenge, but 10 man Boro just got on with the job in hand and Joel Hartley scored goal number 5 in the 66th minute, this goal followed yet more uncertaintity from the 'Tevvie' 'keeper, Joel was there to pick up the pieces and headed home for the 'Boro'.

A VERY HARSH DECISION.......................................................

Boro were playing some neat football, creating chances and as we approached the final stages of the game Danny Gray hit goal number 6.
Boro are perfectly placed, the teams below them will not look forward to coming up against them and on Saturday Boro travel to Leeds to play Yorkshire Amateurs, they will be looking for revenge after the horror show in the Wilkinson Sword Trophy tie a couple of weeks back, and victory over the Ammers will see everyone in great spirits for the following game which will be against Sunderland Nissan at home just 7 days later in the FA Vase and the Wembley dream could then be one step closer for Scarborough Athletic.

UP THE BORO....................
