THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

"BORO" BACK TO WINNING WAYS.............

First job was to eat all the sandwiches before going in the ground.

3 Lonely Boro fans at 2.30pm.

ON A COLD, DAMP, WINDY DAY SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC RETURNED TO WINNING WAYS WITH A HARD FOUGHT VICTORY AT WORSBOROUGH BRIDGE. APART FROM THE OPPOSING TEAM THEY HAD TO PUT UP WITH RIDICULOUS REFEREEING DECISIONS, SOMETHING WE ARE GETTING USED TO ON A REGULAR BASIS.
THE PITCH WAS IN A TERRIBLE STATE, NO WAY OUR FLUENT PASSING FOOTBALL COULD BE PLAYED ON IT, AND BORO ALSO HAD THE DISADVANTAGE OF NOT ONLY KICKING UPHILL ON A BUMPY, UNEVEN PITCH IN THE FIRST HALF, BUT ALSO KICKING AGAINST A STRONG SWIRLING WIND.
STILL NO CRAIG HOGG IN ATTACK, ALSO MISSING TODAY WERE DEFENDER JAMIE WALTHAM AND MIDFIELDER GARY HEPPLES, ALL A BIG LOSS TO THE TEAM TODAY.

All friendly at kick off, but it did not stay that way.

IT WAS GOOD TO SEE RYAN MORTON BACK IN ACTION, BUT THIS TYPE OF PITCH WAS NEVER GOING TO SUIT HIS STYLE OF PLAY, BUT HE DID REALLY WELL UP TO HIS SUBSTITUTION, HIS FREE KICKS AND CORNERS WERE TOP QUALITY AND HE ALMOST FOUND THE NET, HAVING BEATEN 3 DEFENDERS AND LINING UP TO SHOOT HE HAD THE BALL TOOK AWAY FROM HIM AT THE LAST MOMENT BY A TEAM MATE, I THINK IT WAS RYAN BLOTT, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN, ANYWAY THE SHOT WAS BLASTED WIDE.
IT WAS RYAN BLOTT WHO GOT THE ALL-IMPORTANT FIRST GOAL, FOLLOWING AN UNSELFISH PASS FROM SCOTT PHILLIPS.
THAT WAS THE HALF TIME SCORE 'BORO 1- BRIGGERS 0'

4 Defenders, there's only one Ryan Blott !

THE 2nd HALF GOT UNDERWAY WHILE I WAS STILL ABOUT 10th IN THE TEA QUEUE, AND BORO WERE GIVEN A PENALTY WHICH SCOTT PHILLIPS TOOK AND JUST AS HE DID ON TUESDAY NIGHT HE FAILED TO SCORE, I DID NOT SEE THE INCIDENT, BUT BORO CONTINUED TO RUN THE GAME AND THE 2nd GOAL WAS SCORED BY SUBSTITUTE ROB ELLIS, DANNY GRAY HAD HIT THE POST, THE BALL WENT OUT TO RICHARD MEDCALF WHO PUT ANOTHER CROSS BACK IN AND IN THE DRAMA THAT FOLLOWED ELLIS MANAGED TO FIND THE BACK OF THE NET.
BORO NOW HAD A CUSHION, BUT IT TOOK THEM UNTIL THE DYING SECONDS TO ADD GOAL NUMBER THREE, AND IT WAS SUB' DANNY GRAY WHO HAD LOOKED DANGEROUS SINCE HIS LATE INTRODUCTION TO THE GAME WHO CALMLY SLOTTED HOME FROM YET ANOTHER RICHARD MEDCALF CROSS.
SO THE JUBILENT BORO PLAYERS LEFT THE FIELD TO A FINAL SCORELINE OF 3-0, THEY WERE WARMLY APPLAUDED OFF BY THEIR TRAVELLING SUPPORTERS WHO HAD ONCE AGAIN TURNED UP IN NUMBERS.

Danny Gray is congratulated after scoring Boro's 3rd goal.

ONE MAN WAS DETERMINED TO SPOIL THE ENTIRE 90 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL, HE WAS THE REFEREE Mr S SMITH, A TOTAL CLOWN, HE HAD A STRANGE IDEA OF THE OFFSIDE RULE, HE LET THE BRIGGERS PLAYERS GET AWAY WITH FOUL PLAY, HE SHOULD HAVE SENT OFF 2 OF THEIR PLAYERS WITH STRAIGHT RED CARDS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH INEPT OFFICIALS AS THE ONES THAT OPERATE IN THIS LEAGUE.

WANTED For crimes against football (man in the middle Mr S Smith).

Happy Boro players leave the pitch.

IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO PICK A MAN OF THE MATCH AS THE CONDITIONS WERE SO BAD, THE PITCH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY FLUENT FOOTBALL, BUT DAVE KEMP HAD A GREAT GAME IN DEFENCE AND RICHARD MEDCALF NEVER GAVE UP IN ATTACK, RYAN MORTON LOOKED GOOD CONSIDERING HIS LONG ABSENCE FROM THE 1st TEAM, IT WAS A GOOD ALL-ROUND TEAM EFFORT AND I AM ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE HOME GAME AGAINST TEVERSAL ON SATURDAY.

And the Boro fans return to their cars.

UP THE BORO......
