THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

2 POINTS LOST TODAY IN DISAPPOINTING GAME

ARRIVED AT QUEENSGATE 2.50 pm AND ONLY JUST MANAGED TO GET PARKED AS THE CAR PARK WAS ALMOST FULL.
THERE WAS A LARGE EXPECTANT CROWD FOLLOWING THE EXCELLENT RUN THAT THE CLUB ARE HAVING, BUT SADLY TODAY THE TEAM NEVER GOT INTO TOP GEAR, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GARY HEPPLES AND RICHARD MEDCALF IT WAS A POOR TEAM PERFORMANCE, I ONLY HOPE THAT ANY NEW FANS TODAY WILL NOT BE PUT OFF RETURNING TO QUEENSGATE AFTER WITNESSING TODAY'S GAME, AS IT REALLY WAS SO OUT OF CHARACTER.
THERE WAS A STRONG WIND BLOWING AND BORO HAD IT BEHIND THEM IN THE FIRST HALF BUT DESPITE CREATING CHANCES IT SEEMED THERE WAS JUST NO ONE WITH THE CONFIDENCE TO PUT THE BALL AWAY, PHILLIPS AND HARTAS BOTH MISSED CHANCES AND ONE SHOT CLEARED OFF THE STAVELY GOAL LINE LOOKED TO ME AS IF THE BALL WAS ACTUALLY ABOUT ONE FOOT OVER THE GOAL LINE.
EVENTUALLY STAVELY TOOK THE LEAD WITH A BREAKAWAY GOAL, BORO WERE HAVING MUCH MORE OF THE PLAY BUT STAVELY LOOKED DANGEROUS EVERY TIME THEY GOT NEAR THE BORO PENALTY AREA.
HALF TIME ARRIVED WITH THE SCORE STAVELY 1 BORO 0, SO IT WAS TIME FOR ONE OF BRIAN FRANCE'S FAMOUS TEAM TALKS.
IN THE 2nd HALF DAVE THOMPSON REPLACED JOEL HARTLEY WHO LIKE MOST OF HIS TEAM-MATES HAD A FRUSTRATING 1st HALF.
BORO FOUND AN EQUALISER EARLY IN THE 2nd HALF, FROM A RYAN BLOTT CROSS, RICHARD MEDCALF'S SHOT WAS HELPED INTO THE STAVELY NET BY A DEFENDER'S BOOT, AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT EQUALISER BORO TOOK THE LEAD THROUGH RYAN BLOTT, STAVELY KEPT BATTLING AND IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THEY ARE A MUCH IMPROVED TEAM AND THEIR ENDEAVOURS PAID OFF AS THEY GOT THEMSELVES A 2nd GOAL.
BORO HAD BROUGHT ON DANNY GRAY AT THE EXPENSE OF THE PLAYER WHO HAD LOOKED THE MOST LIKELY TO SCORE (RICHARD MEDCALF) AND STAVELY MADE A SUBSTITUTION, THEIR SUB LOOKED VERY DANGEROUS AND SHORTLY AFTER COMING ON HE DID SCORE THE EQUALISING GOAL FOR STAVELY.
SO, THE FINAL WHISTLE BLEW WITH THE SCORELINE 2-2, THE POINTS SHARED AND A DISAPPOINTED CROWD SOON POURED OUT OF THE STADIUM, BUT WE MUST BE POSITIVE, NO TEAM CAN WIN EVERY GAME, WE ARE STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE AND HAVE A GENUINE CHANCE OF WINNING 4 TROPHIES THIS SEASON AS WELL AS THE LEAGUE TITLE ITSELF.
ON A PLUS NOTE TODAY OUR MAIN RIVALS 'BARTON TOWN' WHO WERE SO FAR UNBEATEN ALL SEASON LOST TODAY AT HOME TO BOTTESFORD TOWN, THE SAME BOTTESFORD TOWN THAT WE HAMMERED 7-1 AWAY FROM HOME IN THE PRESIDENTS CUP AND 3-1 AWAY IN THE LEAGUE JUST A COUPLE OF WEEK'S BACK.
I THINK THE TEAM WILL RETURN TO WINNING WAYS ON TUESDAY NIGHT IN THE WILKINSON SWORD TROPHY TIE AWAY TO YORKSHIRE AMATEURS, I WILL NOT BE AT THE GAME BUT I WILL BE AT WORSBOROUGH BRIDGE ON SATURDAY ALONG WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDAUGHTER WHEN WE WILL BE HOPING TO SECURE 3 MORE LEAGUE POINTS IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE.

UP THE BORO................
