THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

NCEL DOUBLE CHAMPIONS & LEAGUE CUP WINNERS NARROWLY DEFEAT "BORO"

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC WERE BEATEN 3-2 AWAY AT WINTERTON RANGERS YESTERDAY IN THE PENULTIMATE FRIENDLY OF THEIR PRE SEASON, I WAS NOT PRESENT AT THE GAME SO CANNOT COMMENT ON THE TEAMS PERFORMANCE, BUT TO LOSE 3-2 TO LAST SEASONS NCEL PREMIER DIVISION CHAMPIONS AND LEAGUE CUP WINNERS IS NO DISGRACE. WINTERTON WENT THE WHOLE OF LAST SEASON UNBEATEN ON THEIR OWN GROUND, THEY SCORED A TOTAL OF 116 GOALS AND HAD 37 SCORED AGAINST, ALL THIS IN JUST 38 LEAGUE MATCHES, THEY WON THE LEAGUE AMASSING AN AMAZING POINTS TOTAL OF 91, 2nd PLACED GLAPWELL FINISHED THEIR SEASON 13 POINTS BEHIND WINTERTON ON 78 POINTS.
AS WELL AS THEIR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY THEY ALSO WON THE LEAGUE CUP, DEFEATING PARKGATE 3-1.
SO, I HOPE THAT BIT OF INFORMATION PUTS "BORO'S" NARROW DEFEAT AT THE HANDS OF WINTERTON INTO PERSPECTIVE.
IT IS TRUE THAT RESULTS PRE-SEASON HAVE NOT GONE OUR WAY, BUT IT MUST BE REMEMBERED THAT WE HAVE PLAYED TEAMS FROM HIGHER LEVELS OF THE PYRAMID, OUR FINAL PRE SEASON GAME ON TUESDAY AGAINST BRODSWORTH COULD AND SHOULD RESULT IN A MUCH WAITED FOR VICTORY BY THE BORO FAITHFUL.
I WATCHED THE RESERVES ON SATURDAY AS I WAS UNABLE TO GET TO WINTERTON IN TIME FOR THE BORO GAME, THEY LOST NARROWLY TO YORK BASED HAXBY WHO THEMSELVES WERE YORK LEAGUE RUNNERS-UP LAST SEASON, IT WAS AN ENTERTAINING GAME, ESPECIALLY WITH MANAGER JIMMY REID RUNNING THE LINE, THE RESERVES SEEM TO HAVE SOME TALENTED INDIVIDUALS ON THEIR BOOKS, I THINK THE MANAGER HAS A LOT OF WORK TO DO BEFORE THE PLAYERS ACTUALLY BECOME AN ORGANISED SIDE, BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD SEEN THEM PLAY, AND IT WAS WORTH THE JOURNEY TO HUTTON CRANSWICK, AND IF I CANNOT MAKE A BORO GAME ANY TIME AGAIN AND THE RESERVES ARE PLAYING AT HOME THEN I WILL WATCH THEM AGAIN
ALSO YESTERDAY, PLAYING ON THE NEXT PITCH TO THE RESERVE GAME WAS THE SCARBOROUGH TOWN OUTFIT, I THINK THE SUPPORT FOR THEM COULD HAVE BEEN COUNTED ON ONE HAND, THEY LOOKED JUST LIKE AN AVERAGE PUB TEAM.
UP THE BORO.........
