THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

AWAY TO FRICKLEY ATHLETIC.

THIS POST IS A FEW DAY'S AFTER THE EVENT DUE TO COMPUTER PROBLEMS, I NOW HAVE MY PC BACK IN FULL WORKING ORDER SO HERE ARE MY MEMORIES OF LAST SATURDAY'S VISIT TO FRICKLEY ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB.
WE HAD BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS GAME FOR SOME TIME NOW ( MY DAUGHTER "DAYLE" AND MYSELF).. FRICKLEY ARE A UNIBOND PREMIER TEAM AND WERE SURE TO GIVE US A REALLY GOOD WORKOUT.
I PICKED DAYLE UP FROM HER HOME IN ROTHWELL ON THE WAY AND WE ARRIVED WITH A COUPLE OF HOURS TO SPARE BEFORE KICK OFF. WE LEFT THE CAR AT THE GROUND AND DECIDED TO WALK INTO SOUTH ELMSALL AND HAVE A LOOK AROUND BEFORE THE GAME, THE SUN WAS SHINING, BUT HALF WAY INTO WALKING AROUND THE MARKET, THE SKIES DARKENED AND THE HEAVENS OPENED, OUR COATS WERE IN THE CAR, HOWEVER THE STORM DID'NT LAST LONG, SO AS WE WALKED BACK UP TO THE GROUND QUITE A FEW BORO CARS PASSED US.
WE GOT INTO THE GROUND AT 2.30 AND WATCHED THE BORO PLAYERS WARMING UP, IT WAS PLAIN TO SEE THAT RYAN BLOTT WAS MISSING AGAIN ALONG WITH DAVE THOMPSON AND RYAN DAVIES, THREE KEY MEMBERS OF THE SQUAD. THIS WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A TOUGH FIXTURE ANYWAY, BUT NOW IT SEEMED EVEN TOUGHER.
BUT FROM THE KICK-OFF BORO WERE EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS THEIR OPPONENTS AND I THINK THEY WERE TRYING TO PLAY THE BETTER FOOTBALL, AND AS HALF TIME APPROACHED WITH THE SCORE AT 0-0, IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN THE BORO WHO WERE LEAVING THE FIELD AS LEADERS, BUT THE FRICKLEY 'KEEPER HAD A GOOD FIRST HALF AND KEPT HIS TEAM IN THE GAME.
AT HALF TIME THE FRICKLEY MANAGEMENT CLEARLY WERE NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR PLAYERS PERFORMANCE AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT TEAM IN A DIFFERENT STRIP WHO LINED UP FOR THE SECOND HALF KICK-OFF.
THE DIFFERENCE IN BOTH CLASS AND FITNESS NOW SHOWED, THIS MUST HAVE BEEN THE FULL FIRST TEAM OR VERY CLOSE TO IT, IT WAS NOT LONG BEFORE FRICKLEY TOOK THE LEAD THROUGH A VERY WELL TAKEN GOAL FROM LEE MORRIS AND A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER A SLOPPY ATTEMPTED BACK PASS BY BORO'S DANFORTH LET IN FRICKLEY'S DEAN WILBURN TO PUT THE SIMPLEST OF CHANCES AWAY PAST A HELPLESS DAVE BRAMLEY IN THE BORO GOAL.
FOLLOWING THIS MANAGER BRIAN FRANCE MADE NO FEWER THAN SEVEN CHANGES BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE.
WE DID WELL TO KEEP THE DEFECIT TO ONLY TWO AS FRICKLEY WERE THE BETTER SIDE, BORO LOOKED TIRED AT THE END, IT WAS A GOOD WORKOUT, JAMIE WALTHAM WAS OUR BEST PLAYER IN MY OPINION AND YOUNG RYAN MORTON GAVE 100% BUT THE BLUES DEFENCE WERE JUST TOO STRONG FOR HIM.
THE ONLY BIG DISSAPOINTMENT WAS THE NUMBER OF TRAVELLING FANS, THE OVERALL ATTENDANCE WAS 212, I WAS EXPECTING AT LEAST THAT NUMBER OF BORO FANS. NEXT WEEKS GAME AGAINST BRIDLINGTON TOWN SHOULD SEE A GOOD TURNOUT, AND IT SHOULD BE A MUCH MORE EVENLY MATCHED GAME.

UP THE BORO.............
