THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

DOMINANT BORO OUTPLAY OPPONENTS YET AGAIN

WELL, THE LONG FOUR WEEK WAIT FOR A COMPETETIVE MATCH FINALLY DREW TO A CLOSE AS PONTEFRACT CAME TO VISIT QUEENSGATE.
A NEW RECORD CROWD OF 605 WATCHED YET ANOTHER TOTALLY DOMINANT DISPLAY BY A HUNGRY BORO TEAM.
GOALKEEPER DAVE BRAMLEY WAS MISSING THANKS TO HAVING THE FLU, SO GLENN POWLEY TOOK OVER BETWEEN THE POSTS.
THE ONLY OTHER CHANGE SINCE OUR LAST GAME WAS ANTHONY BOWSLEY REPLACING DAVE THOMPSON, BUT DAVE WAS AMONGST THE SUBSTITUTES TODAY.
THE GAME WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO, TOTAL DOMINANCE BY BORO, AND SOMETHING ELSE WHICH WE ARE ALSO BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO "CLUELESS OFFICIALS".
BORO HAD CHANCE AFTER CHANCE, THEY HIT THE POST ON THREE SEPERATE OCCASIONS, RYAN BLOTT HAD AN EXCELLENT GAME, HE SAW A TREMENDOUS EFFORT FLY JUST PAST THE POST, GARY HEPPLES HAD A COUPLE OF REALLY CLOSE MISSES, AS WELL AS A SHOT CLEARED OFF THE LINE WITH SMITH IN THE PONTEFRACT GOAL WELL BEATEN.
RYAN BLOTT WAS BROUGHT DOWN IN THE AREA AFTER RECEIVING A CLEVER PASS FROM AN INSPIRED GARY HEPPLES, BUT NOTHING WAS GIVEN.
ANYWAY, HALF TIME ARRIVED WITH AN UNBELIVABLE SCORELINE OF 0-0, IT COULD HAVE BEEN 5 OR 6 EVEN AT THIS EARLY STAGE OF THE GAME.
THE SECOND HALF CARRIED ON IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE FIRST HALF - "ALL BORO", BUT LADY LUCK SEEMED TO FAVOURING THE PONTEFRACT SIDE AS BORO JUST COULD NOT PUT THE BALL AWAY.
MORE POOR DECISIONS FROM THE OFFICIALS DID NOTHING TO HELP THE BORO CAUSE, TWO MORE DEFINATE BORO PENALTIES WERE SIMPLY NOT GIVEN.
BRIAN FRANCE DECIDED TO MAKE A COUPLE OF CHANGES AND HE REPLACED BOWSLEY AND MEDCALFE WITH THOMPSON AND HOGG.
THE GAME CONTINUED IN THE SAME VEIN, THOMPSON WON A FREE KICK SOON AFTER COMING ON, PHILLIPS WAS BROUGHT DOWN FOR A PENALTY WHICH WAS NOT GIVEN, WE HAD SHOT AFTER SHOT ON THE PONTEFRACT GOAL, AND AS THE 90th MINUTE APPROACHED AND EVERYONE WAS SETTLING FOR JUST THE ONE POINT, UP POPPED SUBSTITUTE CRAIG HOGG TO SLOT HOME WHAT WAS IN ALL HONESTY A SCRAPPY GOAL, IT CAME FROM A CORNER, HOGG HIT THE BALL AND THROUGH A CROWD OF PLAYERS IT FOUND IT'S WAY INTO THE NET.
IT WAS A SCRAPPY GOAL, BUT ALL THE BORO PRESSURE FINALLY PAID OFF AND THEY THOROUGHLY DESERVED THE WIN. PONTEFRACT COULD HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FINAL RESULT AS IT WAS ALL ONE WAY TRAFFIC FROM THE FIRST WHISTLE TO THE LAST.
NEXT WEEK WE TRAVEL TO BARTON TOWN, LET'S HOPE THAT WE GAIN REVENGE FOR THE HOME DEFEAT AT THE START OF THE SEASON, AND AS IT IS ONLY A SHORT JOURNEY THERE SHOULD BE ANOTHER LARGE TURNOUT OF BORO FANS.
