THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

OUR NEXT HOSTS STAVELY- A GREAT OCCASION IN PROSPECT.

I HAVE JUST BEEN LOOKING AT THE STAVELY WEBSITE AND FELT THAT I HAD TO SHOW HERE JUST WHAT A GREAT CLUB THEY ARE, IF OUR GAME SETS A NEW GROUND RECORD, WHICH PRESENTLY STANDS AT 280, THEN THEIR MAIN SPONSORS ARE TO DONATE £500 TO BOTH A STAVELY AREA CHARITY AND ALSO A SCARBOROUGH AREA CHARITY. THE CLUB ARE KEEPING ADMISSION PRICES AT THEIR USUAL £3 AND CHILDREN AND PENSIONERS GO IN FREE PLUS REFRESHMENTS ARE NORMAL PRICES, THEY ARE WELCOMING BORO FANS INTO THEIR WELFARE CLUB FROM NOON ONWARDS WHERE BEER IS £1.62. A NICE CHANGE FROM THE RIP-OFF AT GEDLING TOWN, AND A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APPROACH TO THE ROSSINGTON EXPERIENCE, I HAVE PASTED THE TEXT FROM THEIR WEBSITE BELOW, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE JOURNEY-'WELL DONE STAVELY'
News Staveley V Scarborough - Charity Appeal Club News, 25 November 2007 12:06 The Club are looking to beat their current record attendance next Saturday when Scarborough Athletic come to Inkersall Road. The record currently stands at 280 when they played against Stocksbridge PS in the Sheffield Snr Cup on the 22nd January 1994. The Club have announced that if that record is broken, that the Clubs main sponsor, Baris Group Ltd, will donate £500 to 2-charities local to the communities of Staveley and Scarborough. Children under 16 and pensioners will be allowed free admission to next weeks game. The Club will have a representative inside the ground and will take note of the charity that supporters from Staveley and Scarborough wish to designate as the charity they wish the £500 to be sent to. Entrance prices to the game will remain the same - £3 and refreshments will also be normal prices. There is no alcohol available on the ground but the Staveley Miners Welfare Club 200 yards from the ground will be open to both sets of supporters from 12 noon on match day where a pint of beer is £1.62 and sky sports and other facilities are available.
