THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

GRANDAUGHTER "CHELSEY'S" FIRST EVER MATCH.............

BEFORE TODAY'S MATCH AT ROSSINGTON I HAD PLANNED TO CALL AT MY DAUGHTERS HOME IN ROTHWELL AND THEN TAKE MY PARTNER 'GILLY' TO VISIT RELATIVES IN HALIFAX, AND THEN HEAD ACROSS TO ROSSINGTON FOR THE BORO GAME.
HOWEVER MY DAUGHTER DECIDED THAT SHE WOULD LIKE TO COME TO THE GAME AND SO WE DECIDED THAT CHELSEY,'My Grandaughter' WAS READY TO SEE HER FIRST FOOTBALL MATCH (She is 5), IT WAS A COLD DAY SO WE WRAPPED HER UP WELL AND SHE HAD MY BORO SCARF WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK ABOUT FOUR TIMES, BUT SHE REALLY ENJOYED HER DAY, SHE KEPT WARM, SAW EVERY GOAL, AND WAS SHOUTING "UP THE BORO" AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.
IT PROVED TO BE YET ANOTHER EXCELLENT BORO PERFORMANCE, PLAYED IN DIFFICULT CONDITIONS, THE WIND WAS REALLY STRONG, AND THE ROSSINGTON SIDE WERE VERY POOR, WHICH IN MY OPINION DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN AN EASY TIME FOR THE OTHER TEAM, FOR A GOOD ATTRACTIVE GAME, YOU NEED TWO TEAMS WHO CAN PLAY, HOWEVER, BORO WERE STRONG, TRIED TO PLAY FOOTBALL, AND I THINK WE ALL KNEW AT HALF TIME,THAT THE SECOND HALF WOULD PRODUCE MORE BORO GOALS AS WE WOULD HAVE THE STRONG WIND BEHIND US.
THE FINAL SCORELINE WAS 5-1, AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN MORE.
BORO DOMINATED, BRAMLEY WAS THERE WHEN CALLED UPON AT THE BACK, JAMIE WALTHAM WAS MAGNIFICENT IN DEFENCE, MIDFIELD WAS GOOD, AND YET AGAIN, SCOTT PHILLIPS, OUR MIDFIELD "FORWARD" GOT HIS NAME ONTO THE SCORESHEET.
A REALLY GOOD ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCE IN VERY TRICKY CONDITIONS, AND NEXT, WE HAVE A RELATIVELY SHORT TRIP TO WHITBY'S TURNBULL GROUND TO LOOK FORWARD TO ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
THE CLUB OFFICIALS AT ROSSINGTON WERE EXCELLENT, A NICE CHANGE FROM GEDLINGS RIP-OFF EXPERIENCE, AS WE PAID AT THE ENTRANCE THEY DID NOT CHARGE US FOR CHELSEY, ALSO IN THE TEA ROOM, CHELSEY WAS GIVEN CUPS OF ORANGE AND WE WERE NOT CHARGED FOR THEM,
A NICE FRIENDLY CLUB, THE ONLY NEGATIVE ON A GREAT DAY WAS THE 30 OR SO "HOME" IDIOTS WHO CONTINUED TO MOVE AROUND THE GROUND DOING THEIR BEST TO CAUSE TROUBLE WITH THE BORO FANS, NO ONE ROSE TO THE BAIT,WE JUST WATCHED THESE PLANKS WALKING AROUND LOOKING LIKE THE COMPLETE IDIOTS WHICH THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE. I GUESS THE OLDEST OF THESE MORONS WAS ABOUT 16, AND IF A BORO FAN HAD TURNED AND SAID BOO! THEN I RECKON THEY WOULD HAVE BROKEN ALL LAND SPEED RECORDS IN THEIR ATTEMPTS TO RUN HOME TO THE SAFETY OF THEIR MOTHERS ARMS, I WAS SURPRISED THAT THE HOME OFFICIALS DID NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM. THEY MUST FIND THESE LOUTS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THEIR CLUB.
ANYWAY, THE ONE THING WHICH I DO ENJOY AT THIS LEVEL OF FOOTBALL IS THE FREEDOM TO ACTUALLY MOVE AROUND THE GROUNDS AND STAND OR SIT WITH OPPOSING FANS AND TALK ABOUT THEIR RESPECTIVE CLUBS ETC, IT IS HOW FOOTBALL WAS YEARS AGO, AND IS ALL THE BETTER FOR IT, THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IDIOTS LIKE THESE THIS SEASON, I WONDER IF THEY ARE THERE WEEK IN-WEEK OUT , GOING THROUGH THE SAME BORING ROUTINE, OR WAS IT JUST FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR FANS, DUE TO THE NUMBERS WE TAKE TO GAMES ?
ANYWAY, THE DAY WAS ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL, AND WE WERE WORTHY AND COMFORTABLE WINNERS, SO IT WAS BACK TO THE CAR AND ONCE WE EVENTUALLY GOT THROUGH THE LONG STRETCH OF ROADWORKS BY THE RACECOURSE, I HAD DAYLE AND CHELSEY BACK HOME IN ROTHWELL BY 6.30 AND AFTER A NICE CUPPA', GOT TO HALIFAX JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE X FACTOR FINISH AND WAS BACK HOME IN FILEY JUST BEFORE 10.00.

UP THE BORO..
