THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO 5 HALL ROAD RANGERS 1-"BORO" WORTHY FINALISTS

Another top notch performance from Scarborough Athletic FC saw them cruise into the final of the Presidents cup.
A crowd of 441 were inside Queensgate and they were all treated to a highly entertaining performance from Scarborough Athletic, the more I see of 'Premier division' teams the more I fancy our chances of another promotion next season.
It only took 10 minutes for Boro to take the lead, following a free kick from Graham Botham, that man Dave Hartas was in the right place to head home a beauty of an opening goal.
Boro dominated the game, Rangers did create a couple of chances but the Boro defence stood solid and on the odd occassion Rangers actually had a shot on target Aaron Reid in the Boro goal dealt with the situation.
The 2nd Boro goal again came following a Graham Botham free kick, this time it was Craig Hogg who scored the goal after connecting with the free kick.
Half time arrived with the score 2-0.
Craig Hogg grabbed his 2nd of the night to put Boro into a 3-0 lead, but the highlight of the night for me was not one of the goals scored but rather 2 missed attempts from Mark Griffin, Griff' was on fire in the 2nd half, he ran the Rangers defence ragged and put in many good crosses, however he ran onto one through ball and let fly with a volley which would probarbly have ripped the net apart had it been on target, his shot flew across the face of the goal from the right wing and hit the far side crossbar with venom, fans were still talking about the shot as Griff' again ran down the right side and wrong footed the Rangers defender and in full flight he made perfect contact with the ball as he backheeled it and this time it struck the near side crossbar and flew high over the top, 2 pieces of individual magic,
Brian France need not have worried about his teams motivation before the game having already won the championship, the team played as they always do, displaying attacking football and hungry for goals.
The next goal was actually scored by Griff', but Dave Thompson deserves much praise, Thompson who had come as a substitute had a magnificent run down the left side, he avoided tackles, kept going and must have covered 50 yards or more on his run before his cross eventually found the back of the net after hitting Griff' rather than Griff' hitting the ball, but Griff' deserved to be on the scoresheet after a fantastic performance.
Boro's final goal came from the penalty spot, Ryan Blott was fouled in the area and it was Scott Phillips who calmly scored from the resulting penalty kick.
Rangers did get a consolation goal late in the game, but tonight there was only ever going to be one winner.

TONIGHTS TEAM with my marks out of 10.
