THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

"BORO" 7-1 VICTORY IN PRESIDENTS CUP TIE.

PRESIDENTS CUP 2nd ROUND:
A CROWD OF 425 BRAVED THE TERRIBLE WEATHER CONDITIONS AT QUEENSGATE TONIGHT, BUT THE ATROCIOUS WINDS AND DRIVING RAIN COULD NOT STOP SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC FROM GIVING AN EXCELLENT TEAM PERFORMANCE TO PROGRESS INTO THE SEMI FINALS OF THE PRESIDENTS CUP.
OPPONENTS 'PICKERING TOWN' OF THE 'NCEL PREMIER DIVISION' WERE NEVER ALLOWED TO SETTLE AS BORO TOOK THE GAME TO TOWN RIGHT FROM THE KICK OFF.
RYAN BLOTT OPENED THE SCORING FOR BORO AFTER JUST 2 MINUTES AND 4 MINUTES LATER CRAIG HOGG DOUBLED THE LEAD, BORO HAD SCORED 2 REALLY WELL WORKED AND CLINICALLY FINISHED GOALS PLAYING AGAINST THE STRONG WIND.
BLOTT WAS LOOKING HUNGRY, CRAIG HOGG WAS HAVING AN EXCELLENT GAME AS WAS THOMPSON ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE PITCH, THE DEFENCE WAS AS SOLID AS EVER WITH JAMIE WALTHAM ALWAYS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME, IN FACT EVERY PLAYER IN A RED SHIRT PLAYED HIS PART IN THIS GREAT VICTORY.
DEFENDER DAVE HARTAS SCORED THE 3rd GOAL FOR BORO AND THAT WAS THE HALF TIME SCORE.
MORE GOALS WERE SURE TO FOLLOW AS WE WOULD NOW HAVE THE STRONG WIND BEHIND US FOR THE 2nd HALF PLUS THE FACT THAT TOWN WERE DOWN TO 10 MEN AS THEY HAD TOM ADAMS SENT OFF FOLLOWING A DIABOLICAL AND DANGEROUS STAMP ON ROB HOYLE SHORTLY BEFORE THE HALF TIME WHISTLE, THE REFEREE HAD NO OPTION BUT TO SHOW THE RED CARD.
GARY HEPPLES STARTED THE 2nd HALF IN PLACE OF THE INJURED HOYLE, AND IT DID'NT TAKE HIM LONG TO STAMP HIS AUTHORITY ON THE GAME, HE PLAYED SOME GREAT PASSES THROUGH THE CENTRE OF THE TOWN DEFENCE AND CAUSED THEM ENDLESS PROBLEMS.
IT TOOK DAVE THOMPSON ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO SCORE BORO'S 4th GOAL OF THE EVENING , AND RICHARD MEDCALF HEADED THE 5th GOAL AFTER COMING ON AS A SUBSTITUTE REPLACING DANNY GRAY.
REID IN THE BORO GOAL HAD VERY LITTLE TO DO ALL EVENING, WHICH WAS JUST AS WELL AS HE SEEMED VERY UNSURE OF HIMSELF AND COULD'NT HOLD ON TO THE BALL ON 3 OCCASIONS.
TOWN TRIED TO GET BACK INTO THE GAME BUT THE BORO DEFENCE WERE JUST TOO GOOD FOR THEM.
BUT TOWN DID NOT GIVE IN AND THEY GOT THEMSELVES A CONSOLATION GOAL, BUT CRAIG HOGG GOT HIS 2nd GOAL OF THE NIGHT TO MAKE THE SCORE 6-1 AND IN THE LAST MINUTE OF THE GAME RYAN BLOTT FINISHED OFF HIS NIGHT THE SAME WAY HE HAD STARTED IT WITH A GOAL, SO THE FINAL SCORE WAS 7-1.
ONE OF THE STARS OF THE 2nd HALF WAS TOWN 'KEEPER 'KEVIN MARTIN', SOUNDS STUPID, I KNOW, BUT HE PULLED OFF 3 TERRIFIC SAVES AND HAD IT NOT BEING FOR HIM THEN BORO WOULD HAVE REACHED DOUBLE FIGURES TONIGHT.
A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE BY BORO ON A NIGHT WHEN CONDITIONS WERE FAR FROM SUITABLE FOR FOOTBALL.
I THINK THE REFEREE DESERVES A MENTION ALSO, HE HAD AN EXCELLENT GAME.
WE NOW GO TO HEMSWORTH ON SATURDAY LOOKING FOR ANOTHER 3 POINTS TO KEEP THE LARGE GAP AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE INTACT AND 4 DAYS LATER ANOTHER AWAY TRIP TO PLAY GRIMSBY BOROUGH.
TONIGHTS TEAM WAS:
(MARKS OUT OF 10)
REID 6
HOYLE 7
HARTAS 8
WALTHAM 9

THOMPSON 8
PHILLIPS 8
ELLIS 7
HOGG 9
GRAY 7
BLOTT 8
SUBS:
MEDCALF 7

Man of the match difficult as both Craig Hogg and Jamie Waltham were excellent in their respective positions, I would say that Craig just edged it.
TONIGHT'S GOALS CAME FROM:
Ryan Blott scorer of the first and last goal tonight.
Craig Hogg, also grabbed himself 2 goals and was 'man of the match'
Defender Dave Hartas scored a beauty tonight.
Dave Thompson scored to make it 4-0.
Richard Medcalf scored goal number 5 after coming on as a sub.
