Scarborough Athletic travel to Teeside tonight for a North Riding Senior Cup 2nd Round tie against Stokesly of the Northern League.
The reward for a victory tonight will be a meeting with York City at the quarter final stage of the competition.
Fans favourite 'Dave Thompson' was speaking in the local paper ahead of tonights game, the midfielder says that the Boro squad are feeding off the clubs huge support now that they have got used to playing in front of such large crowds.
When Athletic kicked off last season as a new team many of the players had not experienced a big match atmosphere.
Thompson said, "At first a lot of the lads were nervous simply because we were not used to it but now we can't wait to get out there and play in front of the fans because they are terrific."
Dave continued "You get used to it and then you actually start to feed off the crowds enthusiasm. You could see in the Vase game against Sunderland Nissan in particular that we did'nt stop running and we got the winner in extra time"
As for tonights game in the 2nd round of the NRSC, Thompson added "We are looking forward to the game and hopefully we can progress and face York City in the quarter finals"
That is what all Athletic fans want to see, a match against York and the chance for revenge after the defeat they inflicted on us last year.
Scarborough FC actually won this trophy 19 times during their history
