SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

'BORO' FINALLY OVERTAKEN DUE TO NOT HAVING A GAME TODAY.
Askern Villa took advantage of the fact that Scarborough Athletic had no game today as they made the short trip to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and came away the 2-1 victors, but they have now played 4 games more than 'Athletic'.
Pontefract also jumped above Scarborough Athletic as they defeated 'Athletic's' next opponents AFC Emley 1-0, they are now 2nd to Askern Villa on goal difference.
So with the top of the table reading Askern Villa, Pontefract and then Scarborough, it was to be Barton Town who would take 4th place after their 1-0 victory away to Teversal.
Hemsworth MW are 5th thanks to their 4-0 win at basement club Glasshoughton Welfare, Welfare have just 3 points from their 18 games played and they will need a miracle to stay in this division next season.
Rainworth MW are 6th following their 1-1 draw at Stavely MW and are still in contention with the other promotion hopefuls.
Next in the league table are Leeds Carnegie, 7 points behind the leading pack with 22 points from 14 games played.
The other games today were Yorkshire Amateurs surprising 5-0 victory over Appleby Frodingham and Tadcaster Albions unlucky defeat at Bottesford Town, Albion were 2-0 down but fought back to 2-2 only to lose out to an 85th minute winner from Town's John Baross.
Finally Rossington Main received yet another hammering, today it was the turn of Grimsby Borough to leave the Welfare Ground with all the points in their 5-1 victory over 'Main'.
Scarborough Athletic will hopefully be back to winning ways next Saturday at AFC Emley, where a massive travelling support will once again be cheering the team on.
