The 6 teams below leaders Scarborough Athletic all had victories in Division 1 today, therefore piling on the pressure on Scarborough who do not have a league match until next Saturday, but what a match that promises to be at Emley.Boro had a blank day today due to tommorows FA Vase tie with Sunderland Nissan.
Pontefract Collieries made it into 2nd place on goal difference over Emley, Pontefract had a 4-1 victory away to basement club Glasshoughton Welfare, at the same time Emley were sneaking a 1-0 win over Yorkshire Amateurs. Both Pontefract and Emley are now 1 point behind the leaders having played 1 game more than the 'Boro' also.
Askern Villa are now in 4th place thanks to a 1-0 victory over Stavely MW.
Barton Town Old Boys are placed 5th after their fine 2-1 victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Hemsworth in 6th had a 3-1 victory over Tadcaster Albion and even Rainworth MW back in 7th place had a 5-1 win over Rossington Main, not really a surprising result against Rossington.
So the top of the league now reads Scarborough Athletic top with 36 points from 15 games played, 2nd placed Pontefract have 35 points from 16 games as do Emley, a goal difference of just 1 seperates the 2 sides.
Askern Villa are 1 point behind Emley but they have played 1 extra game.
Barton are in 5th place on 32 points but they have only played 14 games, 6th placed Hemsworth are not really challengers as they have played 18 games and are on 29 points.
Rainworth are 7th on 27 points but they have played only 13 games so must be considered as genuine promotion challengers.
Askern Villa have the chance on Tuesday night to take over at the top of the league as they play Tadcaster Albion and victory for 'Villa' would place them temporarily above Scarborough Athletic possibly for a couple of weeks as our next league game is on the 29th November.
So for the 2nd week running Boro fans will be checking on Tadcaster Albion's progress on Tuesday as it will once again be in their hands if we remain top or not, they had a terrific victory over Emley on Monday night of this week, so good luck Taddy again for Tuesday.
Scarborough Athletic's next game is away to Emley, this should be a great game of football as both sides can be entertaining and with so much at stake it should be a great occasion and there should be a very good attendance, I would expect around 250 Boro fans to make the trip to West Yorkshire.
