THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

'ESH WINNING' BOW OUT OF VASE TO BATTLING BORO

"Looks like were in the mire John"......."No worries Ian I'll call Jamie, He will soon pull us out"...............................
Esh International Rescue were on hand.

In the clubhouse.

FOR THOSE OF US ON THE OFFICIAL SUPPORTERS COACH THE DAY TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY LONG ONE, FINALLY GETTING BACK TO SCARBOROUGH AROUND 10.00 pm. AS WE ARRIVED AT ESH WINNINGS GROUND, WE WERE TOLD TO PARK ON THE GRASSED AREA AND THAT THE GROUND WAS SOLID, BUT THE COACH BECAME STUCK IN MUD AND IT WAS TO BE AFTER 8.00pm BEFORE THE COACH WAS ACTUALLY FREED BY A RECOVERY VEHICLE.
Boro fans banners in place before kick off.The 'Esh Winning' faithful.
FULL MARKS TO THE PEOPLE AT THE ESH WINNING FC CLUBHOUSE WHO MADE US WELCOME IN THE CLUB DESPITE HAVING TO PREPARE FOR A RUBY WEDDING PARTY TO BE HELD LATER THAT NIGHT.
The teams line up before kick-off.
AS FOR THE MATCH ITSELF, DISAPPOINTING IS A WORD THAT COMES TO MIND, BORO WERE NOT REALLY SHOWING ANYTHING DURING THE OPENING PERIOD AND AS THEY FINALLY DID BEGIN TO PLAY SOME GOOD FOOTBALL IT WAS ESH' WHO TOOK THE LEAD AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY, POOR DEFENDING ALLOWED AN ESH' FORWARD TO SHOOT PAST A HELPLESS REID IN THE BORO GOAL.
ESH' WERE PLAYING A VERY PHYSICAL GAME, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YET ANOTHER IDIOT WITH A WHISTLE IMPERSONATING A REFEREE, THEY GOT AWAY WITH MURDER, THEIR TIMEWASTING ANTICS WENT UNPUNISHED AND THE REF' SEEMED TO HAVE AN ALLERGY TOWARD YELLOW CARDS, AT LEAST FOUR ESH' PLAYERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN HIS LITTLE BOOK DURING THE FIRST HALF.
HALF TIME CAME WITH BORO LOSING 1-0, WE ARE BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO A HALF TIME TEAM TALK FROM BOSS BRIAN FRANCE TURNING THE GAME AROUND, BUT AS THE 2nd HALF GOT UNDER WAY, IT SEEMED THAT TODAY'S TALK WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO AN OUT OF SORTS BORO.
BUT THINGS WERE TO CHANGE, BORO HAD A BIT OF LUCK AS AN OWN GOAL PRODUCED THEM AN EQUALISER, BUT IT WAS DUE TO BORO PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE ESH' DEFENCE, AND IT WAS A HOPEFUL BACK HEADER BY AN UNDER PRESSURE ESH' DEFENDER THAT ENDED UP IN THE BACK OF THE NET AND PUT BORO ON LEVEL TERMS, TO ME THIS WAS THE TURNING POINT IN THE GAME, ALONG WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF JOEL HARTLEY, GARY HEPPLES AND DANNY GRAY AS BORO NOW SHOWED THE DETERMINATION AND BELIEF WHICH UP TO THEN HAD BEEN MISSING, THEY RODE HIGH TACKLES, THEY SKIPPED PAST SLIDING TACKLES, RYAN BLOTT GOT ON WITH HIS GAME DESPITE BEING AT ONE POINT GRABBED BY THE THROAT BY AN ESH PLAYER, AND THEY DID'NT LET RIDICULOUS DECISIONS STOP THEM FROM PLAYING SOME TERRIFIC AND EXCITING FOOTBALL DURING THE FINAL QUARTER OF THE GAME, TO BE FAIR THERE WERE CHANCES AT EITHER END AND DESPITE BORO HAVING THE LION'S SHARE OF THE ATTACKS, ESH' DID LOOK DANGEROUS ON THEIR OCCASIONAL BREAKTHROUGH, THEY WERE GIVEN A LOT OF ROOM ON THE WINGS AND PUT IN SOME DANGEROUS CROSSES, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF JAMIE WALTHAM, DAVE KEMP AND DAVE HARTAS THE BORO DEFENCE AND MIDFIELD TODAY WERE NOT THEIR USUAL COMMANDING SELVES AND I HAVE MY DOUBTS AS TO THE ABILITY OF AARON REID IN THE BORO GOAL.
Boro celebrate Danny Gray's winning goal.
BUT IT WAS A THRILLING FINALE TO THE GAME, EVENTUALLY OUR SUPERIORITY SHOWED AND IT WAS TO BE DANNY GRAY WHO WOULD FINALLY GET THE WINNING GOAL AND SEND THE 200 OR SO TRAVELLING FANS HOME HAPPY AND DARING TO THINK OF A DATE WITH WEMBLEY IN MAY.
Not even the combined efforts of the 4 wheel drive and the transit would move the coach. The team gave a hand.

AT LEAST AT WEMBLEY THERE WILL BE NO CHANCE OF ANY COACHES BECOMING "MUDBOUND"

Finally free................

UP THE BORO...........
The draw for the next round is at 10.00a.m Monday morning.
