THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

BORO BACK ON TOP OF THE LEAGUE.

'Up the Boro'

"Don't be too hard on us Brian"

Dave Thompson warming up.

Just before kick off.

Boro are back where they deserve to be at the top of the NCEL division one, a fantastic second half performance saw them gain 3 hard earned points at the expense of Bottesford Town, who did actually start the stronger team
The first 15 minutes or so had the large contingent of Boro fans fearing an unexpected defeat at the hands of 'The Poachers', Boro were beaten to just about every ball and looked second best in every department and it was only a matter of time until Bottesford took the lead.

Boro responded to this early shock and Ryan Blott was unlucky not to equalise soon after when his long range shot crashed against the bar.

Boro continued to press and it was Scott Phillips who got Boro's all important first goal, following a free kick, Jamie Waltham put the Bottesford 'keeper under pressure and this allowed Scott to put the ball home from close range, the game changed now and Boro gradually took control.

The second half saw the Bottesford players lose concentration, they gave away numerous free kicks for foul play, they could not cope with being totally outplayed by a revitalised Boro team, who were now passing the ball around in the manner we are more used to, it was a terrific 2nd half team performance and after Dave Thompson put us ahead with a clever goal and then Scott Phillips grabbed his 2nd which gave us a 3-1 lead it was then all over for Bottesford, had the referee's assistant not kept uncorrectly flagging Ryan Blott offside we would have scored another couple of goals at least, but it was a great display by the Boro, and when it came to the time to choose the man of the match it was difficult to pick out one particular player as the team overall performed brilliantly once the early spell of possesssion by Bottesford was over. Aarron Reid in the Boro goal pulled off some excellent saves and his ball distribution was good also, Hoyle, Kemp and Hartas were all solid at the back, Jamie Waltham was tremendous and I did eventually name him as man of the match, although my daughter who was with me plucked for Dave Thompson who had a great game also, Ryan Blott worked hard all the game and could have had a hat trick but bad luck and strange decisions from the officials did not help his cause. Gary Hepples came on as a very late substitute and almost scored also, if our next opponents 'Esh Winning' who we play in the 'Vase' next week had us watched yesterday then they will not be relishing the thought of trying to beat us in 7 day's time up at their place.

Time to relax after another victory.

Time to head for home.

Another large turnout of travelling Boro fans made it into yet another 'home' fixture for the team.

UP THE BORO.......
