AFTER ONLY 4 MINUTES "BORO'S" ROB ELLIS HIT THE BAR FOLLOWING AN EXCELLENT CROSS FROM RYAN MORTON AND IT LOOKED AS IF BORO WERE GOING TO WALK AWAY WITH THE GAME.
RELENTLESS PRESSURE FROM BORO DID NOT BRING THE DESERVED GOAL WHICH THEY WERE SEEKING, BOTH MARK GRIFFIN AND CRAIG HOGG CAME CLOSE, BUT COMPLETLY AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY IT WAS TOWN WHO TOOK A 28th MINUTE LEAD, SALT THE GOALSCORER WITH A HEADER THAT BEAT GOALKEEPER DAVE BRAMLEY.
THE GAME CONTINUED IN THE SAME MANNER, BUT HALF TIME CAME WITH TOWN'S SLENDER 1-0 LEAD STILL INTACT.
THE SECOND HALF WAS AGAIN ALL BORO, BUT THE GOAL OR GOALS WHICH THE TEAM SURELY DESERVED JUST NEVER MATERIALISED, SO IT WAS A FRUSTRATED BORO WHO LEFT THE FIELD ON 90 MINUTES WONDERING JUST HOW THEY HAD NOT SCORED AT LEAST HALF A DOZEN GOALS.
DARREN FRANCE REMAINED IN POSITIVE MOOD AND SAID AFTER THE GAME "NO DISRESPECT TO PICKERING, WHO ARE A GOOD TEAM, BUT WE CREATED SO MANY CHANCES THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW WE DID'NT SCORE A HATFUL, IF WE PLAY LIKE THAT EACH GAME WE WILL PUT 10 PAST A TEAM SOON".
THAT SUMS THINGS UP PERFECTLY FOR ME , ON PAPER WE HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF DEFEATS, BUT THE TEAM ARE PLAYING WELL, AND IT MUST BE REMEMBERED THAT THE OPPOSITION HAVE BOTH BEEN FROM HIGHER LEAGUES THAN OURSELVES, SATURDAY SEES ANOTHER TOUGH FIXTURE ACROSS THE HUMBER BRIDGE AT WINTERTON RANGERS, BUT I THINK THAT THE TEAM WILL COME OUT THE VICTORS THIS TIME.
THE BORO STARTING XI TONIGHT WERE :
BRAMLEY,WOOD,HARTAS,DANFORTH,ELLIS,WIDDOWSON,GRIFFIN,THOMPSON,MEDCALF,HOGG,MORTON.
